27 True Runes
is a series of role-playing video games created by Yoshitaka Murayama. The games are loosely based on the classical Chinese novel ''Water Margin'', whose title is rendered as in Japanese. Each individual game centers on themes of politics, corruption, revolution, mystical crystals known as ''True Runes'', and the "108 Stars of Destiny"—the 108 protagonists who are loosely interpreted from the source material. Although the events of the games are not chronological, the entire series (except for ''Tierkreis'' and ''Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki'') takes place within the same world, among continuing and overlapping histories. In some cases, several characters appear in multiple installments. A spiritual successor entitled ''Eiyuden Chronicle'', made by the original ''Suikoden'' team, is set to release in 2023. Games The franchise began in 1995. The first two games were primarily 2D, using 3D graphics only for environments and visual effects. Suikoden III however marked t ...

The series title refers to the "Fire Emblem", a recurring element in the series that is usually portrayed as a royal weapon or shield representing the power of war and dragons. The development ...

Random Encounters
A random encounter is a feature commonly used in various role-playing games whereby combat encounters with non-player character (NPC) enemies or other dangers occur sporadically and at random, usually without the enemy being physically detected beforehand. In general, random encounters are used to simulate the challenges associated with being in a hazardous environment—such as a monster-infested wilderness or dungeon—with uncertain frequency of occurrence and makeup (as opposed to a "placed" encounter). Frequent random encounters are common in Japanese role-playing games like '' Dragon Quest'', '' Pokémon'', and the ''Final Fantasy'' series. Role-playing games Random encounters—sometimes called ''wandering monsters''—were a feature of ''Dungeons & Dragons'' from its beginnings in the 1970s, and persist in that game and its offshoots to this day. Random encounters are usually determined by the gamemaster by rolling dice against a ''random encounter table''. The table ...

Continuity (fiction)
In fiction, continuity is a consistency of the characteristics of people, plot, objects, and places seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time. It is relevant to several media. Continuity is particularly a concern in the production of film and television due to the difficulty of rectifying an error in continuity after shooting has wrapped. It also applies to other art forms, including novels, comics, and video games, though usually on a smaller scale. It also applies to fiction used by persons, corporations, and governments in the public eye. Most productions have a script supervisor on hand whose job is to pay attention to and attempt to maintain continuity across the chaotic and typically non-linear production shoot. This takes the form of a large amount of paperwork, photographs, and attention to and memory of large quantities of detail, some of which is sometimes assembled into the story bible for the production. It usually regards factors both within the scene and ...

Grinding (video Games)
Grinding in video games is the act of repeating an action or set of actions to achieve a desired result. Players usually perform these tasks to earn experience points / exp points, in-game items ( loot), or to improve a character's level/ stats. Grinding is commonly performed in MMORPGs. Synonyms for grinding include the figurative terms ''treadmilling'' (a comparison with exercise treadmills) and, less commonly, ''pushing the bar''. Related terms include ''farming'' (in which the repetition is undertaken in order to obtain items, relating the activity to tending a farm field), and ''cat assing'', which refers to extended and obsessive play sessions. Motivation A player is commonly motivated to grind due to a player's desire to earn rewards and to influence or increase their level. Silent Protagonist
In video games, a silent protagonist is a player character who lacks any dialogue for the entire duration of a game, with the possible exception of occasional interjections or short phrases. In some games, especially visual novels, this may extend to protagonists who have dialogue, but no voice acting like all other non-player characters. A silent protagonist may be employed to lend a sense of mystery or uncertainty of identity to the gameplay, or to help the player identify better with them. Silent protagonists may also be anonymous. Not all silent protagonists are necessarily mute or do not speak to other characters; they may simply not produce any dialogue audible to the player. Origin The earliest player characters in video games of the 1980s, including the likes of Mario, '' Metroid''s Samus, and ''The Legend of Zelda''s Link, were silent protagonists. Characters such as these may occasionally speak through text or audible words, but are otherwise limited to making gestures, ...

Strategy Video Game
Strategy is a major video game genre that emphasizes thinking and planning over direct instant action in order to achieve victory. Although many types of video games can contain strategic elements, as a genre, strategy games are most commonly defined as those with a primary focus on high-level strategy, logistics and resource management. They are also usually divided into two main sub-categories: turn-based and real-time, but there are also many strategy cross/sub-genres that feature additional elements such as tactics, diplomacy, economics and exploration. Typical experience A player must plan a series of actions against one or more opponents, and the reduction of enemy forces is usually a goal. Victory is achieved through superior planning, and the element of chance takes a smaller role. In most strategy video games, the player is given a godlike view of the game world, and indirectly controls game units under their command. Thus, most strategy games involve elements of warfare ...
