Suicide Risk
''Suicide Risk'' was an ongoing comic book series that ran for 25 issues from 2013 until 2015. It was written by Mike Carey and drawn by Elena Casagrande. Synopsis Leo Winters is a police officer in San Diego when people with superpowers suddenly start appearing all over the world, leading to a wave of destruction and carnage. He manages to track down a grifter couple who are in possession of a device that helps people "unlock" their superpowers for a sizeable fee. They use the device on him, and he soon finds that he has not only developed superpowers, but a suppressed identity, the extra-dimensional warlord Requiem, has taken over his body. Leo/Requiem will soon be forced to play a part in a huge conflict across dimensional barriers, threatening to destroy not only himself and his family, but the entire world and possibly the universe. Boom! Studios (styled BOOM! Studios) is an American comic book and graphic novel publisher, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, United States. History Origins In the early 2000s, Ross Richie and Andrew Cosby had been working in Hollywood, helping to option comic book projects as producers and working to develop them into films with the studios, but were getting increasingly frustrated with the process. Richie planned to start Boom! to get away from Hollywood. Before Boom!, Richie and Cosby worked briefly with Dave Elliott and Garry Leach in 2004 to revive 1980s comic book publishing house Atomeka Press. Mike Carey (born 1959), also known by his pen name M. R. Carey, is a British writer of comic books, novels and films, whose credits include the long-running '' The Sandman'' spin-off series ''Lucifer'', a three-year stint on ''Hellblazer'', as well as his creator-owned titles '' Crossing Midnight'' and '' The Unwritten'' for DC Comics' Vertigo imprint, a lengthy run on Marvel's ''X-Men'', the 2014 novel '' The Girl with All the Gifts'' and its 2016 film adaptation. Early life and career Carey was born in Liverpool, England, in 1959. Stephanie Hans is a French illustrator and comics artist. She is best known for co-creating the series '' Die'', a three-time Hugo Award-finalist, and British Fantasy Award winner, with writer Kieron Gillen. Hans has worked with Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Image Comics as an artist and series creator. Career Cover art Hans originally started with cover art for French prose literature.
