''Sugar Ray'' is the fourth studio album by the band Sugar Ray. The album was released on June 12, 2001, and debuted at number 6 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, and went gold. The album's first single, " When It's Over", also performed well on pop and rock chartsming . Release and promotion The track "Words to Me" was featured on the ''Scooby-Doo'' film soundtrack in 2002. The movie was shot in Queensland, Australia, with the band themselves appearing in it. While in Australia, they performed a beach concert that would be later released on a DVD called ''Music in High Places: Live from Australia''. The track "Sorry Now" was also featured in the 2001 film ''Scary Movie 2''. Reception and sales ''Sugar Ray'' received generally positive reviews. Aggregator Metacritic gave the album a 71 out of 100 rating based on 10 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Sugar Ray
Sugar Ray is an American rock band formed in Newport Beach, California, in 1986. Originally playing heavier funk metal and nu metal style music, the band achieved mainstream popularity in 1997 with their more pop-influenced single " Fly". The song's success led the band to shift its style dramatically to the more radio-friendly pop sound with their subsequent releases. Their best-selling album, '' 14:59'', was released in 1999, and featured popular singles " Every Morning", " Someday", followed by a self-titled album in 2001 featuring the single " When It's Over". The band would release two further albums, ''In the Pursuit of Leisure'' (2003) and '' Music for Cougars'' (2009), though the albums and respective singles generally sold far less. Nicholas Lofton Hexum (born April 12, 1970) is an American singer, songwriter and rapper, currently the vocalist and guitarist for the multi-platinum alternative rock band 311 and The Nick Hexum Quintet. Early life Born in Madison, Wisconsin, to father Dr. Terry Hexum and mother Pat, Hexum went to Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska. There, he played in the school's concert jazz band, and was a member of several local bands like The Extras, The Eds, and The Right Profile. In 1988, Hexum moved to Los Angeles to pursue music with his band Unity, including Chad Sexton, Ward Bones, and Marcus Watkins. However, this group soon parted ways. Charles Stanton "Stan" Frazier (born April 23, 1968) is an American musician, record producer, singer, songwriter and restaurateur. He co-founded Sugar Ray in 1986 and was the band's principal songwriter and drummer until 2012. Frazier served as the producer for tracks and albums by Sugar Ray, Dirty Heads and Ashlee Simpson. In 2012, he starred on the BBC culinary reality show ''Chef Race, UK vs US'' and won a prize of $100,000 Frazier is the co-owner of the Original Sgt. Rodney Sheppard (born November 25, 1967) is an American musician who is the guitarist of the rock band Sugar Ray. Life and career Rodney was born in Port Of Spain, but raised in Newport Beach, California. His mother's name is Gloria and he has an older brother named Alan. While attending Corona del Mar High School Rodney & friends formed a cover band inspired by the group The Jam. That band, initially called ''The Tories'', went on to become ''The Shrinky Dinx'', and eventually became ''Sugar Ray.'' ''Floored'' is the second studio album by American rock band Sugar Ray, released on June 24, 1997. It includes the hit song "Fly", and another moderately successful single, "RPM". Two versions of "Fly" appear on the album, one of them featuring reggae artist Super Cat. ''Floored'' is the first album to feature DJ Homicide as an official member whereas he was a guest musician in the previous album ''Lemonade and Brownies.''
