Sugar (Tonic Album)
''Sugar'' is the second studio album by American band Tonic (band), Tonic. Released on November 9, 1999 and produced by the band itself, the album's title shared the same name as the fifth track on the recording. The creative and collaborative process spanned several geographic locations including Austin, Texas, and a mansion in New Orleans, Louisiana, where actual recording for the album was performed. "Knock Down Walls" and "You Wanted More" were charting singles released off the record, with the latter having first appeared on the American Pie (film)#Soundtrack listing, soundtrack to the movie ''American Pie (film), American Pie''. With Kevin Shepard no longer part of the band, touring drummer Peter Maloney (of Dishwalla) played drums on the album. Music videos for the songs "You Wanted More" and "Mean to Me" were created as part of the album's promotion. Tonic (band)
Tonic is an American rock band, formed in 1993 by Emerson Hart and Jeff Russo. Later members have included Dan Lavery, Kevin Shepard, and Dan Rothchild. Signed to a recording contract in 1995, the band released its debut album ''Lemon Parade'' in 1996. The single "If You Could Only See" reached No. 11 on the ''Billboard'' Airplay Hot 100 in 1997, and ''Lemon Parade'' itself reached Music recording sales certification, platinum status. Tonic spent much of the next two years touring, adding to its reputation as a relentlessly gigging band. In addition to extensive touring Tonic produced other work, including songs for feature film soundtracks. ''American Pie'' is a 1999 American coming-of-age sex comedy film directed and co-produced by Paul Weitz (in his directorial debut) and written by Adam Herz. Dan Lavery
Dan Lavery (born June 11, 1969) is an American professional musician, who has been nominated for two Grammy Awards as part of the band Tonic. Lavery joined Tonic after the band had recorded '' Lemon Parade'', and has been a part of Tonic ever since. When Tonic went on hiatus in the 2004, Lavery embarked on songwriting for motion pictures, such as work inspired by the film ''The Passion of the Christ''. Lavery also began playing bass guitar for musical group The Fray in 2007. Lavery is currently working with his fellow Tonic band members on a studio recording scheduled to be released in 2010. Jeff Russo (born August 31) is an American composer, songwriter, guitarist, vocalist and music producer, and one of the two founding members of American rock band Tonic. He is also a founding member of acoustic rock band Low Stars. Russo is also known for his work as composer on various films and television series, notably '' Snowfall'', '' Fargo'', ''Legion'', and '' Counterpart'', as well as the Star Trek series '' Star Trek: Discovery'', '' Star Trek: Picard'', ''For All Mankind (TV series)'', and '' Star Trek: Strange New Worlds''. Emerson Hart (born July 21, 1969) is a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist and producer. He is the lead singer and songwriter of the alternative rock band Tonic. Biography Emerson Hart was born in Washington, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey and attended Red Bank Catholic High School. Emerson Hart's father Jennings sang for the USO and his mother Sandra is a former television hostess. His father was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and was prescribed medicine to regulate his mental disorder, but he often resisted treatment, and he and Sandra divorced in 1977. Jennings may have been off his medication at the time of his disappearance on January 21, 1980. Dishwalla is an American alternative rock band from Santa Barbara, California. The band's name comes from a Hindi term for a person providing satellite TV to a neighborhood (" dish" + walla). "You Wanted More" is a song by Los Angeles band Tonic that originally appeared in the 1999 film '' American Pie''. It was released on June 7, 1999, and was also featured on Tonic's second album, ''Sugar'', released later in the year. The single peaked at number three on the US ''Billboard'' Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and reached the same position on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, as well as on the Canadian ''RPM'' Rock Report.
