Sue Landske
Dorothy S. "Sue" Landske (September 3, 1937 – February 27, 2015) was a Republican member of the Indiana State Senate who represented the 6th district. Landske was Center Township Assessor from 1978 to 1984. She joined the Indiana State Senate in 1984 and served until her retirement for health reasons in 2014. During her final term, Landske served as the Assistant President Pro Tempore. Landske was a retired captain in the Indiana Guard Reserve The Indiana Guard Reserve (INGR), formerly the Liberty Guard and the Indiana Legion, is the state defense force of the state of Indiana. Rick Niemeyer is a Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Indiana State Senate, elected in 2014. Representing the 6th district since November 14, 2014, Niemeyer also previously served one term in Indiana House of Representatives for district 11, from 2012 to 2014. Niemeyer studied at Indiana State University. He held office on the Lake County, Indiana council before being elected to the state legislature. He is a member of the Environmental Affairs, Local Government, Homeland Security & Transportation, and Veterans Affairs & the Military committees. He is the owner and operator of Lowell Livestock Auction, and a managing broker of Niemeyer Realty. He is also an auctioneer and owner of Niemeyer Auction Services. After the retirement of 30-year incumbent Sue Landske, Niemeyer opted to run for the Republican nomination for her old seat. ''The Times of Northwest Indiana'' (NWI) is a daily newspaper headquartered in Munster, Indiana. It is the second-largest newspaper in Indiana, behind only ''The Indianapolis Star''. History The paper was founded on June 18, 1906, as ''The Lake County Times''. Its founder, Simon McHie, was a native of a small town along the Niagara River in Canada. In 1933, the name was changed to ''The Hammond Times'', and it became an afternoon paper serving Hammond, Whiting, and East Chicago. In May 1962, the McHie family sold the publication to Robert S. The Senate is composed of 50 members representing an equal number of constituent districts. Senators serve four-year terms without term limits.
