Sudesh Mahto
Sudesh Mahto is an Indian politician who was the former Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He is the member of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from Silli. He won the first assembly election in 2000 when he was aged 25. On the formation of Jharkhand he was inducted as Road Constructions Minister. He took over as Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand state on 29 December 2009. In 2019, he became M.L.A. of Silli. Mahto represented the Silli Vidhan Sabha constituency in the legislative assembly of Jharkhand for three consecutive terms, being elected in 2000, 2005 and 2009. He is considered the face of youth in the state and is known to his supporters as ''Dada'' (elder brother). To preserve the identity and history of Jharkhand, Mahto recently announced plans to build a statue of Birsa Munda, which will be known as Statue of Ulgulan and a statue of social reformer from Koyalanchal, Jharkhand movement leader Binod Bihari Mahato, which will be known as Statue of Revolution. Binod Bihari Mahato (23 September 1923 – 18 December 1991) was an advocate and politician. He established Shivaji Samaj, a social reform organisation among the Kudumi Mahato people. He was the founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, established in 1972. He was a leader of the movement for the establishment of the separate state of Jharkhand. He was a member of Bihar Vidhan Sabha three times, in 1980, 1985 and 1990, and a member of the Lok Sabha from Giridih in 1991. Birsa Munda
Birsa Munda (15 November 1875 – 9 June 1900) was an Indian tribal freedom fighter, and folk hero who belonged to the Munda tribe. He spearheaded a tribal religious millenarian movement that arose in the Bengal Presidency (now Jharkhand) in the late 19th century, during the British Raj, thereby making him an important figure in the history of the Indian independence movement. The revolt mainly concentrated in the Munda belt of Khunti, Tamar, Sarwada and Bandgaon. Birsa received his education in Salga under the guidance of his teacher Jaipal Nag.Later, Birsa converted into a Christian to join the German Mission School but soon dropped out after finding out that Britishers were aiming to convert tribals to Christianity through education.
