Sudarshana Muthuthanthri
Sudharshana Muthuthanthri or Sudarshana Muthuthanthri (born 25 August 1991) is a Sri Lankan rugby player and the current captain of the Sri Lanka national rugby union team. He replaced former captain, Fazil Marija as the new skipper of the Sri Lankan rugby union team in 2015. He played schoolboy rugby at S. Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia between 2009-2010 as a flanker. He then went on to play for Havelock Sports Club where he became vice captain in 2012 under Henry Terrance when Havelocks won the Dialog Rugby League. Muthuthanthri took over the captaincy of the club in 2013 where the team finished runner-up. In 2014 under his leadership Havelocks ended up third. He currently plays for Colombo Hockey and Football Club in the Dialog Rugby League. His usual position is Flanker, but can also switch to Number 8. Colombo Hockey And Football Club
Colombo Hockey and Football Club (also known as CH & FC) is a Division 'A' rugby union team based in Colombo, Sri Lanka that competes in the Dialog Rugby League in Sri Lanka. History The Colombo Football Club was established in 1879, playing their first match against a 'World' Team on 30 June that year. The Colombo Hockey was established in 1892. In 1896 the Football and Hockey Clubs combined to form the Colombo Hockey and Football Club (CH & FC). The club was based at the Colombo Racecourse and catered to Hockey and Rugby (football) enthusiasts. In 1962 when the Army acquired the Grandstand and the racecourse CH & FC moved to their current home at Maitland Crescent. Until 1965 all members and playing members of the club were required to be British, the club then allowed Sri Lankans to join, and it was not until 1971 that the first Sri Lankan captain of CH & FC, Bryan Baptist, was appointed. 2018 Commonwealth Games
The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. It was the fifth time Australia had hosted the Commonwealth Games and the first time a major multi-sport had an equal number of events for male and female athletes. 4,426 athletes including 300 para-athletes from 71 Commonwealth Games Associations took part in the event. The Auckland Rugby Union is a New Zealand provincial rugby union. The union was established in 1883 and was originally responsible for the administration of the sport in most of the former Auckland Province, although its boundaries have since shrunk to include only a portion of the Auckland urban area. The union governs the Auckland representative team, which has won New Zealand's first-tier domestic provincial competition 17 times, more than any other team. Havelock Sports Club is a Division 'A' rugby union team based in Sri Lanka that plays in the Dialog Rugby League. The club has a long history and Rugby is the club's main sporting activity. The "Havies", as they are commonly known amongst its members, is situated in Colombo and the club's ground is known as Havelock Park. The club has produced some excellent players over the last few decades including Sri Lankan Nationals such as Michael Jayasekera, Hisham Abdeen, Graham Raux, Sanjeewa Jayasinghe and Rajeev Ganapathy. Number 8 (rugby Union)
In the game of rugby union, there are 15 players on each team, comprising eight forwards (wearing jerseys numbered 1–8) and seven backs (numbered 9–15). In addition, there may be up to eight replacement players "on the bench", numbered 16–23. Players are not restricted to a single position, although they generally specialise in just one or two that suit their skills and body types. Players that play multiple positions are called "utility players". Forwards compete for the ball in scrums and Line-out (rugby union), line-outs and are generally bigger and stronger than the backs.
