Sudanese Military College
Sudanese Military Academy () is one of the military colleges in Sudan and the first military college established in Africa. The Military College at Wadi Sayyidna, near Omdurman, has been Sudan's primary source of officer training since it opened in 1948. The Military College is also known as "the factory of men and the den of heroes" (). It offers a two-year program with emphasises on the study of political and military science, as well as physical training. Upon completion of the program, graduates are commissioned as second lieutenants in the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The military student graduates from the college after three years with the rank of lieutenant in the Sudanese Armed Forces and a diploma degree in military and administrative sciences. Omdurman
Omdurman (standard ar, أم درمان ''Umm Durmān'') is a city in Sudan. It is the most populated city in the country, and thus also in the State of Khartoum. Omdurman lies on the west bank of the River Nile, opposite and northwest of the capital city of Khartoum. Etymology The name Omdurman (''Umm Durmān'') literally translates as "Mother of Durmān", but who she was or might have been is not known. History After the siege of Khartoum, followed by the building there of the tomb of the Mahdi after his death from typhus, the city grew rapidly. University Of Khartoum
The University of Khartoum (U of K) ( ar, جامعة الخرطوم) is a public university located in Khartoum, Sudan. It is the largest and oldest university in Sudan. UofK was founded as Gordon Memorial College in 1902 and established in 1956 when Sudan gained independence. Since that date, the University of Khartoum has been recognized as a top university and a high-ranked academic institution in Sudan and Africa. A military academy or service academy is an educational institution which prepares candidates for service in the officer corps. The Karary University ( Arabic: جامعة كرري) is a university based in the city of Omdurman in the state of Khartoum, Sudan. The university was established in 1996 as a public university funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The Karary Academy of Technology was conceived as tertiary educational institution that would prepare engineering and technological students to meet the needs of the armed forces and military industries, and to guide the relevant scientific research. Sudanese Air Force
The Sudanese Air Force ( ar, القوّات الجوّيّة السودانيّة, Al-Quwwat al-Jawwiya As-Sudaniya) is the air force operated by the Republic of the Sudan. As such it is part of the Sudanese Armed Forces. History The Sudanese Air Force was founded immediately after Sudan gained independence from the United Kingdom in 1956. The British assisted in the Air Force's establishment, providing equipment and training. Four new Hunting Provost T Mk 51s were delivered for jet training in 1961. Wadi Sayyidna Air Base
Wadi Seidna Air Base is a military airport north of Khartoum in Sudan. The air base's history goes back to World War II. The U.S. Army Air Forces' 46th Ferrying Squadron, Air Transport Command, was activated at the base on 2 December 1942. The squadron was assigned to the 13th Ferrying Group which was responsible for a region spanning El Geneine, Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, now in West Darfur, to Karachi, India (now Pakistan), and from Cairo, Egypt, to Tehran, Iran. The squadron was responsible for the aerial transportation of personnel, supplies and mail throughout this area. Two sources give different details about the stay of No. 114 Maintenance Unit RAF at Wadi Seidna.
