Success
Success is the state or condition of meeting a defined range of expectations. It may be viewed as the opposite of failure. The criteria for success depend on context, and may be relative to a particular observer or belief system. One person might consider a success what another person considers a failure, particularly in cases of direct competition or a zero-sum game. Similarly, the degree of success or failure in a situation may be differently viewed by distinct observers or participants, such that a situation that one considers to be a success, another might consider to be a failure, a qualified success or a neutral situation. For example, a film that is a commercial failure or even a box-office bomb can go on to receive a cult following, with the initial lack of commercial success even lending a cachet of subcultural coolness. It may also be difficult or impossible to ascertain whether a situation meets criteria for success or failure due to ambiguous or ill-defined definit ...

Success (Sigue Sigue Sputnik Song)
"Success" is a song by British band Sigue Sigue Sputnik released in November 1988 as the lead single from their second album ''Dress for Excess''. It peaked at number 31 on the UK Singles Chart. Background and recording Following the success of Sigue Sigue Sputnik's debut album '' Flaunt It'' in 1986, the record label wanted a new hit single. A cover of David Bowie's " Rebel Rebel" was touted as a possibility for release in January 1987. However, this was scrapped after, according to Tony James, lead singer Martin Degville "managed to come up with the worst vocal I had ever heard" during recording. After this, the band decided to stick to original material, and the beginnings of "Success" started to come together. After spending most of 1987 struggling to find a chorus for "Success", James had the idea of working with famed production trio Stock Aitken Waterman, seen as an odd collaboration given the latter's previous success with Hi-NRG pop records such as Dead or Alive's " ...

Success (novel)
''Success'' is Martin Amis's third novel, published in 1978 by Jonathan Cape. Plot ''Success'' tells the story of two foster brothers—Terence Service and Gregory Riding, narrating alternate sections—and their exchange of position during one calendar year as each slips towards, and away from, success. Themes ''Success'' is Amis's first statement of the doppelganger theme that would also preoccupy the novels ''Money'', ''London Fields'', and, especially, 1995's '' The Information''. Reception ''Success'' was widely praised upon publication. ''The Guardian'' observed that "Gregory and Terry double the narrative in a way that makes Martin Amis's ''Success'' like a kind of two-way mirror"; critic Norman Shrapnel praised the novel's "icy wit" and called the narrative approach "artfully appropriate... tbuilds up an air of profound unreliabiity—entirely fitting, since things are by no means what they seem." In ''The Observer'', critic Anthony Thwaite called the book "a moral ...
