Suburbs
A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. A suburb can exist either as part of a larger city/urban area or as a separate political entity. The name describes an area which is not as densely populated as an inner city, yet more densely populated than a rural area in the countryside. In many metropolitan areas, suburbs exist as separate residential communities within commuting distance of a city (cf "bedroom suburb".) Tongaat Beach
oThongathi (previously and popularly known as Tongaat) is a town in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, about north of Durban and south of KwaDukuza. It now forms part of eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, or the Greater Durban area. Wentworth is a coloured area of Durban, South Africa in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. It is located completely inside an area known as the South Durban Basin. The Wentworth area is located near major freeways M4 and M7 is approximately 11km south of the Durban City Centre. History Wentworth forms part of the South Durban Basin. Initiated in 1938 by British colonialists, the area's original purpose was to serve as an army base. Due to the 1950 Group Areas Act Apartheid-era policy however, the region was split into districts depending on ethnic background. Greyville, Durban
Greyville is an area in Durban, South Africa. It is on the flat land west of the Durban city centre, at the foot of the Berea. It includes the Greyville Racecourse. Initially, Greyville was a middle-class and working class white area, populated by those who couldn't afford to live in the upper Berea, because of its lower altitude. Indians moved in, and by the 1930s, sections of Greyville were largely inhabited by Indians. The shops in the area were owned by shopkeepers of differing nationalities, and the area was cosmopolitan.
