''Subsurface Circular'' is a text-based adventure game developed and published by Mike Bithell Games. The game was released for Microsoft Windows and macOS on 17 August 2017, iOS on 23 October 2017 and Nintendo Switch on 1 March 2018. The game received critical acclaim for its engaging narrative and writing. Gameplay ''Subsurface Circular'' is a loose take on text-based adventure games, with the game presented in a three-dimensional, third-person perspective. Mike Bithell Games
Michael Bithell is a British video game designer, developer, and podcaster best known for his work on ''Thomas Was Alone'' and ''Volume''. He is a regular host of the ''Play, Watch, Listen'' podcast, along with Alanah Pearce, Troy Baker, and Austin Wintory. Career Bithell credits his high school history teacher for helping him to get into games programming: when their class was given an essay assignment, Bithell asked instead if he could make a point-and-click adventure game about the topic in lieu of an essay. The teacher was impressed with the work and allowed Bithell to continue to present games instead of essays for the class. The Nintendo Switch is a video game console developed by Nintendo, for which games are released both in physical and digital formats. Physical games are sold on cartridges that slot into the Switch console unit.
