Subramaniam Park
Subramaniam Children's Park ( ta, சுப்பிரமணியம் சிறுவர் பூங்கா ''Cuppiramaṇiyam Ciṟuvar Pūṅkā''; commonly known as Subramaniam Park) is an urban park in the city of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. History Subramaniam Park was built in the 1950s by Jaffna Urban Council using a large donation provided by S. Subramaniam, a local physician. The park was named after Subramaniam. Subramaniam's nephew was V. Dharmalingam, later MP for Uduvil. The park was severely damaged during the civil war and was destroyed in military operations in 1990. After being closed to the public for 14 years, renovation funded by Rs. 2 million provided by UNICEF began in 2004. The renovated park was re-opened by Jaffna District Secretary K. Jaffna (, ) is the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. It is the administrative headquarters of the Jaffna District located on a peninsula of the same name. Uduvil Electoral District
Uduvil Electoral District was an electoral district of Sri Lanka between March 1960 and February 1989. The district was renamed Manipay Electoral District in July 1977. The district was named after the towns of Uduvil and Manipay in Jaffna District, Northern Province. The 1978 Constitution of Sri Lanka introduced the proportional representation electoral system for electing members of Parliament. The existing 160 mainly single-member electoral districts were replaced with 22 multi-member electoral districts. Manipay electoral district was replaced by the Jaffna multi-member electoral district at the 1989 general elections, the first under the PR system, though Manipay continues to be a polling division of the multi-member electoral district. ''Ceylon Today'' is an English language Sri Lankan daily newspaper published by Ceylon Newspapers (Private) Limited. It was founded in 2011 and is published from Colombo.
