:For the 1998 Japanese album ''Submerge'', see Coaltar of the Deepers Submerge is an Indian dance and clubbing scene founded in 2002 by MTV India VJ Nikhil Chinapa, with DJ Pearl, Chinappa's wife, as a co-founder. ''Submerge'' has been influential in the music and clubbing scene in India by creating an alternative to the then existing music mainstream, playing music: techno, trance, house, progressive, psychedelic, tribal, electro and tech house sounds and unreleased or indie sounds. It is also host to many internationally renowned names in DJing and is planning to spread the formula all over India with big Indian and international names. Coaltar Of The Deepers
Coaltar of the Deepers are an alternative rock band from Japan. They formed in May 1991. Although primarily influenced by shoegaze and post-rock sound, their sound incorporates musical elements as diverse as thrash metal, electronica, neo-acoustic, and bossa nova. Possessing a devoted fanbase, they are also known for their Prince, The Cure, The Primitives, and My Bloody Valentine covers. History Biography In early 1991, the band was formed in Tokyo by frontman Narasaki. During that time, they recorded demo tapes including most of the songs eventually incorporated into their first release "White EP," on Strange Records. The EP had former member Watanabe on vocals while Narasaki played guitar. The band's activity was silent until the end of 1992 when they released their second EP, "Queen's Park all you change" on Stomly Records. MTV India
MTV India is an Indian pay television channel specialising in music, reality and youth culture programming. It was launched in 1996 as the Indian version of MTV and is owned by Viacom 18, a joint venture operation between MTV International owner Paramount Global and Reliance Industries' TV18. A video jockey (abbreviated VJ or sometimes veejay) is an announcer or host who introduces music videos and live performances on commercial music television channels such as MTV, VH1, MuchMusic and Channel V. Origins The term "video jockey" comes from the term "disc jockey", "DJ" ("deejay") as used in radio. Music Television (MTV) popularized the term in the 1980s (see List of MTV VJs). The MTV founders got their idea for their VJ host personalities from studying Merrill Aldighieri's club. Aldighieri worked in the New York City nightclub Hurrah, which was the first to make a video installation as a prominent featured component of the club's design with multiple monitors hanging over the bar and dance floor. Nikhil Chinapa
Nikhil Chinapa is an Indian DJ, host and festival curator, often credited with popularizing EDM among the youth in India. He is also known as the Father of Indian Dance Music for his various contributions towards revolutionising the outlook of Dance Music throughout the Indian Subcontinent. He has been associated with MTV India since the late 1990s and has appeared in multiple television shows including ''Roadies'' and ''Splitsvilla''. He has been instrumental in popularizing DJing as a profession and leading the music scene at the Sunburn Festival in its early years. Early life Chinapa was born in Bangalore.
