''Pseudospongosorites'' is a genus of sea sponges belonging to the family Suberitidae. Currently, the genus is considered as monotypic, consisting of a single species ''Pseudospongosorites suberitoides''. It is found in the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and on the Atlantic coast of the United States as far north as North Carolina. This species is known by the common name Florida hermit crab sponge, so named because hermit crabs often use it as shelter. Taxonomy ''Pseudospongosorites suberitoides'' was originally thought to represent a species in the genus ''Suberites'', due to its superficial resemblance and similar ecology. ''Suberites'' contains nearly all other sponges known as the 'hermit crab sponges,' most notably '' Suberites domuncula''. However the ''Suberites'' hermit crab sponges are only found in deep water greater than 20m, while ''Pseudospongosorites suberitoides'' is usually found in shallow water near shore. ''Suberites domuncula'' is a species of sea sponge belonging to the family Suberitidae. This species contains suberitine, a neurotoxin that can cause fatal hemolytic hemorrhaging in various animals. While it is highly toxic to fish, it is known to be preyed upon by the hawksbill turtle, ''Eretmochelys imbricata''. There are currently two accepted subspecies of this taxon: ''Suberites domuncula domuncula'' and ''S. domuncula latus''. In 1893, Lambe described a new sponge species as ''Suberites latus''. This was later determined to be a junior synonym of ''S. domuncula'' and merged into the species as a subspecies under the scientific name ''S. domuncula latus''. ''S. domuncula'' is well known for colonizing gastropod shells occupied by hermit crabs. At least 13 species of hermit crabs have been found associated with this sponge. ''Suberites'' is a genus of sea sponges in the family Suberitidae. Sponges, known scientifically as ''Porifera'', are the oldest metazoans and are used to elucidate the basics of multicellular evolution. These living fossils are ideal for studying the principal features of metazoans, such as extracellular matrix interactions, signal-receptor systems, nervous or sensory systems, and primitive immune systems. Thus, sponges are useful tools with which to study early animal evolution. They appeared approximately 580 million years ago, in the Ediacaran. Oscar Daniel Bezerra Schmidt (born February 16, 1958) is a retired Brazilian professional basketball player. He is also commonly known as Oscar Schmidt in Spain, where he played for Fórum Valladolid for the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons, and simply Oscar, or ''Mão Santa'' (Holy Hand), in his homeland. Schmidt primarily played the shooting guard and small forward position, was 2.06 m (6 ft 9 in) tall and weighed 109 kg (240 lbs). He was born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
