Subdivision (metre)
In music, metre (British English, Commonwealth spelling) or meter (American and British English spelling differences#-re, -er, American spelling) refers to regularly recurring patterns and accents such as bar (music), bars and Beat (music), beats. Unlike rhythm (music), rhythm, metric onsets are not necessarily sounded, but are nevertheless implied by the performer (or performers) and expected by the listener. A variety of systems exist throughout the world for organising and playing metrical music, such as the Indian system of ''Tala (music), tala'' and similar systems in Rhythm in Arabic music, Arabic and Rhythm in Sub-Saharan Africa, African music. Western music inherited the concept of metre from poetry, where it denotes: the number of lines in a Verse (poetry), verse; the number of syllables in each line; and the arrangement of those syllables as long or short, accented or unaccented. The first coherent system of rhythmic notation in modern Western music was based on rhythmi ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Subdivisions (EP)
Sinch is an American alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. History The alternative rock quartet, Sinch formed in 1994 while its members were attending different high schools in Doylestown and Willow Grove. To the dismay of parents and the bemusement of friends, the members of Sinch made a pact that upon leaving school they would dedicate themselves to the band rather than pursue college or the military. In 1996 the band self-produced its first album titled, ''The Strychnine'', earning it regular live slots along the East Coast. Two years later, Sinch released its second record titled, ''Diatribe'', which gained them further notoriety and won them supporting slots with major label artists including KoЯn, Rob Zombie, Linkin Park and Chevelle. This exposure was sufficient to garner the band a major label deal. In 2001, they signed with Roadrunner Records and produced their self-titled '' Sinch'' album with producer Malcolm Springer. Subdivisions (song)
"Subdivisions" is a song by Canadian progressive rock group, Rush, released as the second single from their 1982 album ''Signals''. The song was a staple of the band's live performances, is played regularly on classic-rock radio, and appears on several greatest-hits compilations. It was released as a single in 1982, and despite limited success on the UK charts, the song had significant airplay in Great Britain. In the United States, it charted at No. 5 on the ''Billboard'' Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and No. 5 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Played live prior to its release, numerous pre-release live versions have circulated among collectors for years. Lyrics and background The song is a commentary on social stratification through the pressure to adopt certain lifestyles. It describes young people dealing with a " cool" culture amidst a comfortable yet oppressively mundane suburban existence in housing subdivisions. Anyone who does not obey social expectations is regarde ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Subdivision (botany)
In zoological nomenclature, a subphylum is a taxonomic rank below the rank of phylum. The taxonomic rank of "subdivision" in fungi and plant taxonomy is equivalent to "subphylum" in zoological taxonomy. Some plant taxonomists have also used the rank of subphylum, for instance monocotyledons as a subphylum of phylum Angiospermae and vertebrates as a subphylum of phylum Chordata. Taxonomic rank Subphylum is: #subordinate to the phylum #superordinate to the infraphylum. Where convenient, subphyla in turn can be divided into infraphyla; in turn such an infraphylum also would be superordinate to any classes or superclasses in the hierarchy. Examples Not all fauna phyla are divided into subphyla. Those that are include: *Arthropoda: divided into subphyla Trilobitomorpha, Chelicerata, Myriapoda, Hexapoda and Crustacea, * Brachiopoda: divided into subphyla Linguliformea, Craniformea and Rhynchonelliformea, *Chordata: divided into Tunicata, Cephalochordata, and its largest subph ... Homeomorphism (graph Theory)
In graph theory, two graphs G and G' are homeomorphic if there is a graph isomorphism from some subdivision of G to some subdivision of G'. If the edges of a graph are thought of as lines drawn from one vertex to another (as they are usually depicted in illustrations), then two graphs are homeomorphic to each other in the graph-theoretic sense precisely if they are homeomorphic in the topological sense. Subdivision and smoothing In general, a subdivision of a graph ''G'' (sometimes known as an expansion) is a graph resulting from the subdivision of edges in ''G''. The subdivision of some edge ''e'' with endpoints yields a graph containing one new vertex ''w'', and with an edge set replacing ''e'' by two new edges, and . For example, the edge ''e'', with endpoints : can be subdivided into two edges, ''e''1 and ''e''2, connecting to a new vertex ''w'': The reverse operation, smoothing out or smoothing a vertex ''w'' with regards to the pair of edges (''e''1, ''e''2) inciden ... Subdivision Surface
In the field of 3D computer graphics, a subdivision surface (commonly shortened to SubD surface) is a curved surface represented by the specification of a coarser polygon mesh and produced by a recursive algorithmic method. The curved surface, the underlying ''inner mesh'', can be calculated from the coarse mesh, known as the ''control cage'' or ''outer mesh'', as the functional limit of an iterative process of subdividing each polygonal face into smaller faces that better approximate the final underlying curved surface. Less commonly, a simple algorithm is used to add geometry to a mesh by subdividing the faces into smaller ones without changing the overall shape or volume. Overview A subdivision surface algorithm is recursive in nature. The process starts with a base level polygonal mesh. A refinement scheme is then applied to this mesh. This process takes that mesh and subdivides it, creating new vertices and new faces. The positions of the new vertices in the mesh are compu ... Administrative Division
Administrative division, administrative unit,Article 3(1). country subdivision, administrative region, subnational entity, constituent state, as well as many similar terms, are generic names for geographical areas into which a particular, independent sovereign state (country) is divided. Such a unit usually has an administrative authority with the power to take administrative or policy decisions for its area. Usually, the countries have several levels of administrative divisions. The common names for the principal (largest) administrative divisions are: states (i.e. "subnational states", rather than sovereign states), provinces, lands, oblasts, governorates, cantons, prefectures, counties, regions, departments, and emirates. These, in turn, are often subdivided into smaller administrative units known by names such as circuits, counties, ''comarcas'', raions, '' județe'', or districts, which are further subdivided into the municipalities, communes or communities consti ... Subdivision (India)
A subdivision of India refers to an administrative division of an Indian state below the level of a district. A district may have multiple subdivisions, and each of those subdivisions may contain multiple subdistricts and municipalities ('taluk', 'tehsil', 'community development block', 'mandal', or 'circle' depending on the state). Administration in a subdivision is carried out by Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), an entry level IAS officer or State Civil Service Member. In West Bengal, for example, Murshidabad district contains five subdivisions ('mahakumas'). Subdivision (land)
Subdivisions are the act of dividing land into pieces that are easier to sell or otherwise develop, usually via a plat. The former single piece as a whole is then known as a subdivision. Subdivisions may be simple, involving only a single seller and buyer, or complex, involving large tracts of land divided into many smaller parcels. If it is used for housing it is typically known as a ''housing subdivision'' or ''housing development,'' although some developers tend to call these areas communities. Subdivisions may also be for the purpose of commercial or industrial development, and the results vary from retail shopping malls with independently owned ''out parcels'' to industrial parks. United States History In the United States, the creation of a subdivision was often the first step toward the creation of a new incorporated township or city. Contemporary notions of subdivisions rely on the Lot and Block survey system, which became widely used in the 19th century as a means ...
