Sub (album)
''Sub'' is the debut album by Swiss industrial metal band Apollyon Sun, released in 2000 on Mayan Records. The band started working on a full album, titled ''Sub'', at London's Trident Studios in 1998, with producer Roli Mosimann (Björk, Marilyn Manson, Faith No More), who had also produced the 1990 Celtic Frost album ''Vanity/Nemesis''. Apollyon Sun
Apollyon Sun was a Swiss industrial metal band formed by singer/guitarist Tom Gabriel Fischer and guitarist Erol Unala in early 1995, after the termination of Celtic Frost, Fischer's prior group. The group was unofficially dissolved in 2001 when Fischer invited Erol Unala to contribute to the reformation of Celtic Frost. Their name is taken from the Celtic Frost demo "Under Apollyon's Sun". History The band were first discovered in 1997 by London-based Sanctuary Music Management, on the strength of their ''Industry Demonstration'' EP. Subsequently managed by Rod Smallwood and Merck Mercuriadis, Apollyon Sun released a five-track debut mini-album - ''God Leaves (And Dies)'' on London's Mayan Records in summer of 1998 and then contributed "God Leaves" and "Relinquished Body" for the soundtrack of top-rated BBC TV show ''City Central''. Vanity/Nemesis
''Vanity/Nemesis'' is the fourth studio album by Swiss heavy metal band Celtic Frost, released on 11 April 1990 through Noise Records. Modern reviews see this album as a return-to-form compared to the band's previous album, '' Cold Lake'', but contemporary critics panned it. The band continued experimenting and evolving their music, this time fusing elements of traditional heavy metal, thrash metal and gothic rock. It has a different sound from the black/thrash metal of the first two albums, or the avant-garde metal of ''Into the Pandemonium'', although ''Vanity/Nemesis'' retains lyrical and musical elements from those releases. ''Vanity/Nemesis'' would be Celtic Frost's last studio album before the dissolution of the band in 1993 and until their return album in 2006 ''Monotheist''. ''Vanity/Nemesis'' was re-released in 1999 with additional tracks. The album also includes a cover of David Bowie's 1977 hit "Heroes". The track "The Heart Beneath" was used on the Manga Entertainm ...

Apollyon Sun Albums
The Hebrew term Abaddon ( he, אֲבַדּוֹן ''’Ăḇaddōn'', meaning "destruction", "doom"), and its Greek equivalent Apollyon ( grc-koi, Ἀπολλύων, ''Apollúōn'' meaning "Destroyer") appear in the Bible as both a place of destruction and an angel of the abyss. In the Hebrew Bible, ''abaddon'' is used with reference to a bottomless pit, often appearing alongside the place Sheol ( ''Šəʾōl''), meaning the resting place of dead peoples. In the Book of Revelation of the New Testament, an angel called Abaddon is described as the king of an army of locusts; his name is first transcribed in Koine Greek (Revelation 9:11—"whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon,") as , and then translated , ''Apollyon''. The Vulgate and the Douay–Rheims Bible have additional notes not present in the Greek text, "in Latin ''Exterminans''", ''exterminans'' being the Latin word for "destroyer". Etymology According to the Brown–Driver–Briggs lexicon, the he, אבדון ''’ăḇa ...

Hellhammer
Hellhammer was a Swiss metal band from Nürensdorf, active from 1982 to 1984. Although the band's sound and style were heavily criticized and poorly reviewed during their active years, they have been widely praised in retrospect and are often regarded as a key influence on black metal. In June 1984, Hellhammer disbanded but two of its members soon formed the influential extreme metal band Celtic Frost.Fischer (2000), p. 80. History Inspired by the music of Black Sabbath, Venom, Raven, Motörhead and Angel Witch, guitarist/vocalist Thomas Gabriel Fischer (a.k.a. "Tom Warrior"), bassist/vocalist Urs Sprenger (a.k.a. "Savage Damage" and "Steve Warrior") and drummer Pete Stratton formed Hammerhead (later Hellhammer) in early 1982. Cold Lake (album)
''Cold Lake'' is the third studio album by Swiss extreme metal band Celtic Frost, released on 1 September 1988 by Noise Records. It features a new lineup, reformed by bandleader Tom Warrior with newly joined musicians Oliver Amberg, Curt Victor Bryant and a returning Stephen Priestly, who had previously played with the band in 1984 on the ''Morbid Tales'' EP. Despite it being marketed to exploit the mass appeal of glam metal, the album has more of a traditional heavy metal sound. The album was not popular with the group or its fans and is no longer available to buy, making the LP much sought after by collectors. Background After a disheartening end to their "One in Their Pride" tour in Dallas, Texas, Tom Warrior decided to end the band. However, in mid-1988, at the request of Oliver Amberg and with the support of producer Tony Platt, the band was resurrected, although with an entirely new line-up (Oliver Amberg – guitars, Curt Victor Bryant – bass, Stephen Priestly – drum ...

Morbid Tales
''Morbid Tales'' is the debut EP by the Swiss extreme metal band, Celtic Frost, released in November 1984. The first European release on Noise Records was a mini-LP with six tracks, while the American release by Enigma/Metal Blade added two tracks, bringing it to the length of a regular LP. In 1999 a remastered edition of ''Morbid Tales'' was released on CD by Noise Records, which also contained the tracks from their 1985 EP ''Emperor's Return'' as well as a 2017 remastered edition released by the same label on CD and vinyl formats. Legacy The thrash metal intensity of ''Morbid Tales'' had a major influence on the then-developing death metal and black metal genres. It included elements that were adopted by the pioneers of both styles. The band's bleak and dead serious fashion style was also influential, including their corpse paint face makeup. In 2017, ''Rolling Stone'' ranked ''Morbid Tales'' as 28th on their list of 'The 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.' In the ...
