Střela (Strakonice)
Střela is a village, a local part of the town Strakonice in the district of Strakonice, the Czech Republic. It is located less than 4 km west of Strakonice; the Kolčavka stream flows through it, which feeds Střelský pond in the village and a few hundred meters further flows into the Otava river on the left. In the eastern extremity of the cadastral territory of Střela, there is also the old settlement of Virt, which is a separate registered part of the city and divides the local part of Střela into two parts. The village is crossed by road I/22 connecting Strakonice and Horažďovice. History The first owner of the village was Martin of Střela in 1242, but the first written mention of the castle with the pool court dates back to 1318. Strakonice (; ) is a town in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 22,000 inhabitants. Otava (river)
The Otava () is a river in the Czech Republic, a left tributary of the Vltava River. It flows through the Plzeň Region, Plzeň and South Bohemian Region, South Bohemian regions. It is formed by the confluence of the Vydra (river), Vydra and Křemelná rivers. Together with the Vydra, which is its main source, the Otava is long, making it the List of rivers of the Czech Republic, 13th longest river in the country. Without the Vydra, it is long. Virt
Virt () is a municipality at the Danube in the Komárno District in Slovakia in the Nitra Region. History The village is known for findings of richly endowed Avar graves from the 7th and 8th century AD.In the 9th century, the territory of Vrbová nad Váhom became part of the Kingdom of Hungary. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1256. After the Austro-Hungarian army disintegrated in November 1918, Czechoslovak troops occupied the area, later acknowledged internationally by the Treaty of Trianon. Between 1938 and 1945 territory of Vrbová nad Váhom once more became part of Miklós Horthy's Hungary through the First Vienna Award. From 1945 until the Velvet Divorce, it was part of Czechoslovakia.
