Richard Stöhr
Richard Franz Stöhr (11 June 1874 – 11 December 1967) was an Austrian composer, music author and teacher. Born in Vienna, Stöhr studied composition with Robert Fuchs at the Vienna Conservatory. After working there as a repetiteur and choral instructor from 1900, he taught music (theory of harmony, counterpoint, form) from 1903 to 1938, being professor from 1915. Among his students were Herbert von Karajan, Rudolf Serkin, Erich Leinsdorf, Samuel Barber, Erich Zeisl, Louis Horst, Marlene Dietrich, Alois Hába, Hellmut Federhofer, and Mimi Wagensonner. Fired from the Vienna Conservatory due to his Jewish heritage in 1938, he emigrated to the US in 1939 and taught at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. His students there included Leonard Bernstein and Eugene Bossart. From 1941 to 1950 he taught at St. Michael's College in Vermont, where he maintained emeritus status until 1960. Willi Stöhr
Wilhelm “Willi” Stöhr (6 November 1903 – after 1994) was a Nazi Party official and politician who served as '' Gauleiter'' of Gau Westmark in the closing months of the war. Early life Born in Wuppertal-Elberfeld the son of a writer, Stöhr attended '' volksschule'' and '' realschule'' locally through 1922. He joined the Nazi Party in 1923 and was active in the ''Orstgruppe'' (Local Group) in Wuppertal. He remained active in the Nazi movement even after the party was banned in the aftermath of the Beer Hall Putsch. He worked as a commercial clerk during these years and formally rejoined the party in 1929, also becoming a member of the ''Sturmabteilung'' (SA). Around this time he studied economics and political science at the universities in Cologne and Frankfurt. Joachim Stöhr
Joachim Stöhr (born September 28, 1947) is a physicist and professor emeritus of the Photon Science Department of Stanford University. His research has focused on the development of X-ray and synchrotron radiation techniques and their applications in different scientific fields with emphasis on surface science and magnetism. During his career he also held several scientific leadership positions, such as the director of the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory (SSRL) and he was the founding director of the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS), the world's first x-ray free electron laser. Franz Stöhr
Franz Stöhr (born 19 November 1879 in Veliká Ves (Chomutov District) – died 13 November 1938 in Schneidemühl) was a German politician with the Nazi Party. Stöhr was a Sudeten German who had been active in antisemitic politics before the First World War. Stöhr was elected member of the Reichstag for Thuringia in May 1924 and retaining his seat until his death. Stöhr began as a member of the German Völkisch Freedom Party (DVFP) and was elected as part of the National Socialist Freedom Movement, an electoral pact between this group and the Nazis. However, in May 1927 Ernst Graf zu Reventlow split from the DVFP after becoming a strong admirer of Adolf Hitler and Stöhr joined the likes of Christian Mergenthaler and Wilhelm Kube in following Reventlow into the Nazi Party.
