Stuurbaard Bakkebaard (also known as SBBB) is a Dutch rock band formed in 1996. Their early work has been frequently compared to artists such as G. Love, Tom Waits and de Kift. The band is known for its unconventional use of their instruments. In their more recent work there is a shift towards an increasing experimental approach. The band is widely recognized and appreciated internationally for their unique individuality, creativity, and captivating stage presentation. Biography The first appearance of Stuurbaard Bakkebaard is as a (at that point unnamed) duo. The songs are made up on the spot, while playing. Kaizers Orchestra
Kaizers Orchestra is a Norwegian alternative rock band formed on 1 January 2000. They are notable for being among the first non-black metal Norwegian artists singing in their native language to become popular beyond Scandinavia. In 2012, the group announced that following a 2013 "Farewell Tour", they would take a long break. Their final concert was held on 14 September 2013 at DNB Arena in Stavanger, and was also streamed live online. Following weeks of teasers and speculation, the band confirmed a reunion and comeback tour scheduled for 2023. As of 2022, the band has released eight studio albums, five live albums and several EPs and video releases. Fokofpolisiekar (, ''Fuckoffpolicecar'') is an Afrikaans alternative rock band from Bellville, near Cape Town, South Africa. Due to the obscenity in the name, they are also commonly known simply as Polisiekar or FPK. Band history The band was formed in April 2003, initially as a joke to shock the mostly conservative Afrikaner community with its name and also the notion of an Afrikaans alternative band. All the members were well known in local underground music circles from their work in the bands New World Inside, 7th Breed and 22 Stars. Johnny Dowd
Johnny Dowd (born March 29, 1948, in Fort Worth, Texas) is an American alternative country musician from Ithaca, New York. Typical of his style are experimental, noisy breaks in his songs and strong gothic (in the sense of dark and gloomy) elements in the lyrics as well as in the music. There is also a strong undercurrent of black humor and the absurd in his work. Although his early albums were most celebrated in the alternative country community, he has never quite fit into any particular genre. As a singer-songwriter, his music is most often compared to that of Tom Waits, Nick Cave and Captain Beefheart. Gary Lucas (born June 20, 1952) is an American guitarist/songwriter/composer who was a member of Captain Beefheart's band. He formed the band Gods and Monsters in 1989. Don Van Vliet (; born Don Glen Vliet; January 15, 1941 – December 17, 2010) was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and visual artist best known by the stage name Captain Beefheart. Conducting a rotating ensemble known as The Magic Band, he recorded 13 studio albums between 1967 and 1982. His music blended elements of blues, free jazz, rock music, rock, and avant-garde music, avant-garde composition with idiosyncratic rhythms, absurdism, absurdist wordplay, a loud, gravelly voice, and his claimed wide vocal range, though reports of it have varied from three octaves to seven and a half. Motorpsycho (band)
Motorpsycho is a Norwegian rock band from Trondheim. Their music can generally be defined as progressive or psychedelic rock, but they also mix in elements from alternative, jazz, post-rock, pop, country and many other musical styles. The members of the band are Bent Sæther (born 18 February 1969, bass/vocals), Hans Magnus "Snah" Ryan (born 31 December 1969, guitar/vocals) and Tomas Järmyr (drums). Kyteman
Colin Benders (born 5 December 1986 in Utrecht) is a Dutch techno artist. He is also the founding figure of The Kyteman Orchestra. Childhood Benders grew up in Sterrenwijk, Utrecht. Primary school was not easy for Colin; various diagnoses, like ADHD, were made. When he was eight, he switched from his old school to the Kathedrale Koorschool Utrecht, where he got the chance to develop his musical talents. For a long time Kyteman was the precentor of the choir. He stopped singing at the age of fifteen. After primary school Colin went to Secondary school for Young Talents, linked to the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, where he could specialize in playing the trumpet. Arjen de Vreede (born 26 April 1962 in Utrecht, The Netherlands), known by his stage name DJ DNA, is a Dutch DJ and producer. At age seventeen, he started as a DJ, and became a pioneer in the Dutch music scene playing hip hop, house, acid house and techno in renowned Dutch clubs such as the Roxy and the Vrije Vloer. He also co-founded the band Urban Dance Squad. After leaving the Urban Dance Squad he was in various bands like JMX and Stuurbaard Bakkebaard. He made remixes for a.o.
