Sturgeon-Weir River
The Sturgeon-Weir River is a river in east-central Saskatchewan, Canada. It flows about south-southeast to join the Saskatchewan River at Cumberland House, Saskatchewan. It was on the main voyageur route from eastern Canada northeast to the Mackenzie River basin. The river is a popular wilderness canoe route in Canada. Description The river's source is Corneille Lake, near the community of Pelican Narrows. It travels southeast, crossing Saskatchewan Highway 106 before reaching Amisk Lake. It then continues southeasterly to Sturgeon Landing and Namew Lake. It runs through the Churchill River Uplands ecoregion which is located along the southern edge of the Precambrian Shield. The Black Sturgeon River is a river in Thunder Bay District, Northwestern Ontario, Canada, located west of the Nipigon River, that flows to Lake Superior. Most of the river is protected in the Black Sturgeon River Provincial Park, a waterway park stretching from Black Sturgeon Dam north to and including the lands around Black Sturgeon Lake. The Black Sturgeon River is a river in the Nelson River drainage basin in Kenora District, northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is a tributary of the Winnipeg River. Course The river begins at Silver Lake, and exits at the west at Crystal Bay. It flows west into the Northeast Bay of Black Sturgeon Lakes, then through the Grassy Narrows to the main part of the lake, where it takes in the left tributary Little Black Sturgeon River. The river heads into the city of Kenora and through a narrows past the communities of Lajeunesse Bridge and Pelletier Bridge, and turns north through another arm of Black Sturgeon Lakes. The unincorporated community of Celina is located within Sturgeon River Unorganized Territory. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the unorganized territory has a total area of 35.9 square miles (93.0 km2), all land. Demographics At the 2000 census there were 99 people, 44 households, and 26 families living in the unorganized territory. The population density was 2.8 people per square mile (1.1/km2). There were 85 housing units at an average density of 2.4/sq mi (0.9/km2). The racial makeup of the unorganized territory was 91.92% White, 1.01% Native American, and 7.07% from two or more races. Sturgeon River is a river in the Hudson Bay drainage basin in the central part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It flows from its source in the Waskesiu Hills in Prince Albert National Park to the North Saskatchewan River, just west of the city of Prince Albert. Course The Sturgeon River begins at a small lake named Antoine Lake in the Nimrod Hills range of the Waskesiu Hills in Prince Albert National Park. From the lake, the river heads west through muskeg, boreal forests, and glacier carved valleys to the western boundary of Prince Albert National Park, at which point it turns south following a glacial spillway that was formed at the end of the ice age. The Sturgeon River is a river in the Lake Huron drainage basin in the municipalities of Tay, Oro-Medonte and Springwater in Simcoe County, Central Ontario, Canada. Course The Sturgeon river begins at an unnamed spring between the Simcoe Highlands and the western edge of the Oro Moraine, and just west of the community of Horseshoe Valley in Oro-Medonte. It passes north through Craigs Swamp, then under Ontario Highway 400 and into Springwater southeast of the community of Hillsdale. It flows over Rumbles Dam and re-enters Oro-Medonte.
