Stuart Spencer (political Consultant)
Stuart K. Spencer (born 20 February 1927) is an American political consultant. As co-founder of Spencer-Roberts, he and his firm have managed over 400 Republican political campaigns. Stuart Spencer served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946, and then graduated from the East Los Angeles Junior College with an AA, and from California State University, Los Angeles, with a BA degree in Sociology in 1951. Spencer-Roberts & Associates, Inc., was established in California in 1961 with Bill Roberts. They were among the first professional campaign managers. In 1962 he managed Tom Kuchel's campaign for United States Senate in California. After that, he managed Nelson Rockefeller's presidential campaign of 1964, and Don Riegle's run for Congress, Michigan, in 1966. He ran Ronald Reagan's gubernatorial campaign in California in 1966. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. The GOP was founded in 1854 by anti-slavery activists who opposed the Kansas–Nebraska Act, which allowed for the potential expansion of chattel slavery into the western territories. Eric Delvalle
Eric Arturo Delvalle Cohen-Henríquez (2 February 1937 – 2 October 2015) was a Panamanian politician. He served as Vice President under Nicolás Ardito Barletta. Following the disputed 1984 election, and after Barletta's forced resignation, Delvalle served as President of Panama from 28 September 1985 until 26 February 1988. In 1988, he attempted to remove Manuel Noriega as head of the armed forces, but was himself deposed by the Legislative Assembly, going into hiding and eventually exile. Background Delvalle was born in Panama City. His brother Raúl is a former member of the National Assembly (1984–1989). 1948 United States Presidential Election
The 1948 United States presidential election was the 41st quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 2, 1948. In one of the greatest election upsets in American history, incumbent President Harry S. Truman, the Democratic nominee, defeated Republican Governor Thomas E. Dewey. Truman had ascended to the presidency in April 1945 after the death of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Defeating attempts to drop him from the ticket, Truman won the presidential nomination at the 1948 Democratic National Convention. The Democratic convention's civil rights plank caused a walk-out by several Southern delegates, who launched a third-party " Dixiecrat" ticket led by Governor Strom Thurmond of South Carolina. The Dixiecrats hoped to win enough electoral votes to force a contingent election in the House of Representatives, where they could extract concessions from either Dewey or Truman in exchange for their support. Harry S. Truman (May 8, 1884December 26, 1972) was the 33rd president of the United States, serving from 1945 to 1953. A leader of the Democratic Party, he previously served as the 34th vice president from January to April 1945 under Franklin Roosevelt and as a United States senator from Missouri from 1935 to January 1945. Assuming the presidency after Roosevelt's death, Truman implemented the Marshall Plan to rebuild the economy of Western Europe and established both the Truman Doctrine and NATO to contain the expansion of Soviet communism.
