Stuart McNay
Stuart McNay (born August 1, 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts) is an American sailor, who specialized in two-person dinghy (470) class. He represented the United States, at four Olympics: two times partner Graham Biehl, in 2008 and 2012 and twice with partner Dave Hughes in 2016 and 2020. Background Stu learned to race at Beverly Yacht Club in Marion, Massachusetts. He was a multi time All-American in collegiate sailing at Yale University. He has raced for the US Sailing Team since 2003. As of September 2014, McNay/Biehl were ranked sixth in the world for two-person dinghy class by the International Sailing Federation, following their successes at the North American Championships and ISAF Sailing World Cup Series in Miami, Florida, United States. Sailing at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London was held 29 July – 11 August 2012 at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in Weymouth. The 2012 sailing program consisted of a total of ten events (eight classes). Eleven fleet races were scheduled off the coast at Weymouth Bay for each event, except for the 49er and the Elliott 6m classes. For the 49er class, a total of 16 races were scheduled. Of the 11 (16) races, 10 (15) were scheduled as opening races and the last one as medal race. For the Elliott 6m a series of match races was scheduled. The sailing was done on different types of courses. Venue According to the IOC statutes the contests in all sport disciplines must be held either in, or as close as possible to the city which the IOC has chosen. David Hughes (sailor)
David "Dave" Hughes (born January 22, 1978, in Ithaca, New York) is a US Olympian, multi-time World and national champion, and professional sailor. Hughes was a member of the 2020(21), 2016, and 2012 US Olympic Teams. He is best known for his accomplishments on the Olympic sailing circuit as both an athlete and coach. Hughes lives in Miami, FL. Sailing competitions at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo took place from 25 July to 4 August 2021 at the Enoshima Yacht Harbor in Enoshima. The venue was also used for the 1964 Olympic Games although significantly regenerated, the IOC now encouraging regeneration, cost reductions and sustainability. The RS:X, Laser, Laser Radial, Finn, 470, 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra17 are all returning for 2020; there are no significant changes to the Olympic programme from 2016. Competition format Qualification The number of sailors competing has been reduced from 380 to 350, with an equal numbers of male and female athletes for the first time ever. Sailing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held from 8–18 August at Marina da Gloria in Guanabara Bay. The sailing classes had two changes from the 2012 Summer Olympics events.
