Stuart Mann
Stuart Mann (born 30 December 1972) is an English former professional snooker player. He competed on the main tour over ten seasons between 1991 and 2006. Career Mann was born in 1972, and turned professional in 1991. His first six seasons on the main tour were without any success, and having reached a highest ranking of 220th, he was relegated in 1997. He returned to the main tour for the 1998/1999 and 2000/2001 seasons, but was relegated once more on each occasion. At the 2001 World Championship, he defeated Peter McCullagh 10–5, Martin Dziewialtowski 10–9 and Matthew Couch 10–2 to reach the last 64 at a ranking event for the first time; requiring two more victories to make his first appearance at the Crucible Theatre, Mann was drawn against Jonathan Birch, but lost 6–10. The World Snooker Tour (WST) is the main professional snooker tour, consisting of approximately 128 players competing on a circuit of up to 28 tournaments each season. The World Snooker Tour is administered by World Snooker Ltd, the commercial arm of professional snooker, which introduced the World Snooker Tour name, logo, and revised website as part of a 2020 rebranding. Martin Dziewialtowski
The 1997 Liverpool Victoria UK Championship was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place at the Guild Hall in Preston, England. The event started on 12 November 1997 and the televised stages were shown on BBC between 22 and 30 November 1997. This was the last UK championship to be held in Preston, where the event was held since 1978. The following year's competition was held in Bournemouth. Ronnie O'Sullivan defeated Stephen Hendry 10–6 in the final, ending Hendry's run of three successive UK championship wins. O'Sullivan had been the last player other than Hendry to win the event, as a 17-year-old in 1993. The highest TV break of the competition was 137 made by Stephen Lee and it was worth £5,000. Matthew Couch
Matthew Couch (born 30 June 1974) is an English former professional snooker player. Career During a professional career lasting from 1992 to 2012, Couch had little success in ranking events, although he reached the quarter-finals of the UK Championship in 1998, and his highest break is 141 from 2002. He returned to the Main Tour for the 2008/2009 season, and survived due to a fine run in the World Championship qualifiers, including a 10–3 victory over former champion John Parrott. In October 2010, Couch had one of his best results to date, reaching the final of the 2010 Brugge Open, where he lost 4–2 against former World Champion Shaun Murphy. Crucible Theatre
The Crucible Theatre (often referred to simply as "The Crucible") is a theatre in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England which opened in 1971. Although it hosts regular theatrical performances, it is best known for hosting professional snooker's most prestigious tournament, the World Snooker Championship, which has been held annually at the venue since 1977. Its name is a reference to the local steel industry. In May 2022 plans were unveiled to build a new 3,000-seater venue nearby with a bridge connecting the two buildings. Jonathan Birch (snooker Player)
Jonathan Birch (born 15 February 1968) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1968, Birch turned professional in 1990, and his first season was a successful one; he reached the last 16 of several tournaments, including the 1991 World Masters, where he was defeated 4–7 by Steve Longworth. He was unable to repeat this good form until 1993, when he reached the quarter-final of the 1993 Dubai Classic; there, he beat Mike Hallett, Dennis Taylor and Terry Griffiths en route to being whitewashed 0–5 by Stephen Hendry. Scott MacKenzie (snooker Player)
Scott MacKenzie (born 21 July 1980) is a Scottish former professional snooker player who lives in Renfrewshire. Career MacKenzie's first appearance at a ranking event came at the 2004 Daily Record Players Championship. He beat James Wattana in the final qualifying round before losing 5–1 to Marco Fu in the first round proper. He reached the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time in his career at the 2006 China Open. Mehmet Husnu (born 25 July 1972) is a Cypriot former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1972, Husnu turned professional in 1991, becoming the first Cypriot professional snooker player in the history of the game. Adrian Rosa (born 17 January 1971) is an English former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1971, Rosa turned professional in 1991. He first progressed beyond the pre-qualifying rounds of any event at the 1991 Grand Prix, where he won six matches - including a 5–0 whitewash over the fading Alex Higgins - before losing 2–5 to Ken Doherty in the last 96. Drew Henry
Drew Henry (born 24 November 1968) is a Scottish former professional snooker player, who spent five consecutive seasons of his career in the top 32 of the rankings, peaking at No. 18. Career A strong amateur, Henry won the 1988 Scottish Amateur Championship and reached the Semi-Finals of the World Amateur Championship in the same year. Mark King (born 28 March 1974) is an English professional snooker player. Having turned professional in 1991, King was ranked within the world's top 32 players between 1996 and 2015, and won his first ranking event title in 2016, defeating Barry Hawkins 9–8 in the final of the Northern Ireland Open.
