Strömstad Municipality
Strömstad Municipality (''Strömstads kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the city of Strömstad. The municipality got its present boundaries in 1967, when the ''City of Strömstad'' was merged with the two adjacent rural municipalities Tjärnö and Vette. Vette had been created in 1952 out of four older entities. Geography Strömstad Municipality is located on the Norwegian border and is known to attract large numbers of shoppers from Norway due to the marked price gap, notably in the tax-burdened alcohol and tobacco, but also groceries such as meat and sugar. Hvaler is a municipality that is a group of islands in the southern part of Viken County, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Skjærhalden, on the island of Kirkeøy. The only police station in the municipality is located in Skjærhalden. Hvaler was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see ''formannskapsdistrikt''). Name The name is the plural form of ''hval'', which means "whale". Tanum Municipality (; ''Tanums kommun'') is a municipality in Västra Götaland County in southwestern Sweden. Its seat is the town of Tanumshede, with 1,600 inhabitants. The present municipality was formed in 1971 through the amalgamation of three former units. Before the subdivision reform of 1952, there were seven entities in the area.
