Strålande jul (Glorious Christmas) is a 2009 joint album by Sissel Kyrkjebø and Odd Nordstoga credited as the duo Sissel & Odd (or Sissel og Odd as on the album cover). ''Northern Lights'' is a 2007 live album and DVD released in the US by Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø. The CD and DVD is a live recording of a concert at Bergstadens Ziir ("Jewel of the mountain town" in German), a church from the 17th century in Røros, Norway (a 17th-century Germany mining town). It was inspired by Norway's winter, the Blue Hour, and the mystical Northern Lights. The music were arranged by Kjetil Bjerkestrand and the musicians sharing the stage with Sissel were the Trondheim Soloists, the Nidaros Cathedral Girls Choir, and Sissel's own band. The concert featured the tenor José Carreras, which performed the Julio Iglesias/Dolly Parton-duet "When You Tell Me That You Love Me" with Sissel. ''Til deg'' is a 2010 folk/roots/country album by Norwegian singer Sissel Kyrkjebø, which was released in Scandinavia. This album includes songs in Norwegian, Swedish and English. The album was released on 15 November 2010 in Scandinavia. It was recorded in ABBA's Polar Studios in Stockholm, Nidaros Studios in Trondheim, and in Nashville. This album shows a new direction in music and is heavily influenced by the style of country music, roots and folk. The album includes five songs sung in Swedish, three in Norwegian and two in English, including a Norwegian translation of Victoria Shaw's song "Never Alone", titled "Velkommen hjem", and a Swedish cover of Alison Krauss' song "Ghost in This House", called "Levande död". Sissel Kyrkjebø
Sissel Kyrkjebø (; born 24 June 1969), also known abroad as Sissel, is a Norwegian soprano. She is considered one of the world's top crossover sopranos. Her musical style ranges from pop recordings and folk songs to classical vocals and operatic arias. She rose to prominence in Norway in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and her cover version of Ole Paus' song " Innerst i sjelen" (Deep in My Soul) gained wide popularity in the 1990s. Odd Nordstoga (born 10 December 1972) is a folk singer, musician, actor and editor from Vinje Municipality in Telemark, Norway. In 2004, he went from relative obscurity to becoming the country's biggest selling recording artist, with the phenomenal success of his first solo album proper, ''"Luring"''. The album, a fusion of pop and Norwegian folk music, has sold more than 160,000 copies in Norway to date and earned him several Spellemannsprisen awards. "''Jul, jul, strålande jul''" is a Christmas song with lyrics written by Edvard Evers and music composed by Gustaf Nordqvist. It was published in 1921. The song has been subject to many interpretations in Sweden, other Scandinavian countries and internationally by singers, choirs and orchestras. It was first published by music publisher Abraham Lundquist AB. The song was one of the most common Christmas carols in Sweden during the 20th century. The lyrics describe Christmas as white, then snow-filled, and depict the rest of Christmas blessings with a wish that Christmas brings light and peace.
