Stryama (railway Station)
The Stryama ( bg, Стряма , known in Antiquity as ''Syrmus'') is a river in southern Bulgaria, an important left tributary of the Maritsa. It originates in the Balkan Mountains. The river is 110 kilometres in length and is the sixth longest in the Maritsa drainage, following the Tundzha (390 km), the Arda (290 km), the Ergene (281 km), the Topolnitsa (155 km) and the Sazliyka (145 km). Geography The river takes its source under the name Kameninitsa at an altitude of 2,158 m at the southern foothills of the summit of Vezhen (2,198 m) in the central Balkan Mountains. Until the town of Klisura it flows south in a deep valley with a large longitudinal slope. The river then turns east and southeast, enters the Karlovo Valley and crosses its southern reaches in a wide shallow riverbed. Vezhen Peak
Vezhen ( bg, Вежен ) is a peak in the western Balkan Mountains, located in western Bulgaria. At Vezhen is the 77th highest mountain in Bulgaria. It is situated in the Teteven mountain. Byala Reka (Stryama Tributary)
The Byala reka ( bg, Бяла река) is a river in southern Bulgaria, a left tributary of the river Stryama of the Maritsa drainage, with a length of 37 km. Its upper course falls within the Dzhendema nature reserve of the Central Balkan National Park. Geography The Byala reka takes its source at an altitude of 2,048 m in the Kalofer division of the Balkan Mountains, at the western foothills of the summit of Botev (2,376 m), the highest in the mountain range. It flows initially south and then southeast in a steep valley, which along with its tributaries the Dzhendemska reka and the Praskalska reka form the deep impenetrable valley of Southern Dzhendem. After it receives the waters of the Dzhendemska reka, its flow increases significantly. Squalius Cephalus
''Squalius cephalus'' is a European species of freshwater fish in the carp family Cyprinidae. It frequents both slow and moderate rivers, as well as canals and still waters of various kinds. This species is referred to as the common chub, European chub, or simply chub. Description It is a stocky fish with a large rounded head. Its body is long and cylindrical in shape and is covered in large greenish-brown scales which are edged with narrow bands of black across the back, paling to golden on the flanks and even paler on the belly. Common Rudd
The common rudd (''Scardinius erythrophthalmus'') is a bentho-pelagic freshwater fish, widely spread in Europe and middle Asia, around the basins of the North, Baltic, Black, Caspian and Aral seas. Identification Morphologically, this species is very similar to the roach ('' Rutilus rutilus''), with which it can be easily confused. It can be identified by the yellow eye colour. The eye of the roach has a big red spot above the pupil, that can be more or less conspicuous. The rudd has an upturned mouth allowing it to feed easily at the top of the water. The placement of the dorsal fin is more to the rear which is even visible in very young fish. There are normally only one or two scales between the tip of the pelvic fins and the anal fins, while on the roach there are five. The Srebra ( bg, Сребра), also known as the Azmak (Азмак) is a river in southern Bulgaria, a left tributary of the river Maritsa, with a length of 21 km. The river takes its source under the name Zlatoselska reka at an altitude of 696 m at 1.7 km southwest of the village of Svezhen in the mountain range of Sredna Gora. The Brezovska reka ( bg, Брезовска река), formerly known as Rahmanliyska reka (Рахманлийска река), is a river in southern Bulgaria, a left tributary of the river Maritsa, with a length of 53 km. The river takes its source under the name Poprashtenska reka at an altitude of 1,043 m at 1.1 km southeast of the summit of Bratan (1,236 m) in the mountain range of Sredna Gora.
