Stroganov Chronicle
The Stroganov Letopis, also known under the name "On Capturing of the Siberian Land" (''Строгановская летопись'', ''"О взятии Сибирской земли"'' in Russian) is one of the earliest Siberian Letopises. There is no unanimous opinion in the Russian scientific community with regards to the exact date of this letopis compilation. It is generally considered that it was written either in 1620–1630 or 1668–1673. Some historians believe that parts of the Stroganov Letopis are based on the Yesipov Letopis, which was written in 1636. The Stroganov Letopis is based on annalistic data (which didn't survive to this day) and materials of the Stroganovs' archives, including their correspondence with Yermak's druzhina. The Siberian Letopises (''Сибирские летописи'' in Russian) are the Russian letopises of the late 16th - 18th centuries on the history of Siberia. They include the Yesipov Letopis, Kungur Letopis, Remezov Letopis, Stroganov Letopis, and others. These letopises represent a valuable source on the early history of the Russian Siberia. Letopis (genre)
Letopis ( orv, лѣтопись) is a literary genre of Rus' ( East Slavic) (along with such common genres as "Word", "Life", Kormchaia), written in Old East Slavic. It was also distributed in the Czech lands, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania and Latvia.'' This term is translated into English as 'chronicle'. The most common are the Old Rus’ and Old Polish letopis. Later, under the influence of the latter, Kazakh letopis appeared, the so-called "shezhire", which differ from ordinary letopises in a more simplified structure and are ordinary pedigrees. Most of the letopises are author's works, which describe the genealogy and biography of the Old Rus’ian knyazes, the life of the people of Old Rus, and interpret events and signs from an E.
