Striscia La Notizia
''Striscia la notizia'' () is an Italian satirical television program on the Mediaset-controlled Canale 5. Founded in 1988, it is meant to be a parody of the daily news, which airs right before the program, but ''Striscia'' also satirizes government corruption and exposes scams with the help of local reporters who are also comedians. The program is created by Antonio Ricci and is hosted by two major comedians. The name of the show literally translates in English as "The News Slither". Gabibbo Gabibbo, an Italian cultural icon, is the red mascot of the TV show, with a strong Genoa accent. Always loud, braggart but pungent in his naive but straightforward ways, it is one of the reporters of the program and it also sings and dances the theme song at the end of every episode. Antonio Ricci (TV Producer)
Antonio Ricci (born June 26, 1950) is an Italian television writer and showrunner. Biography Antonio Ricci was born in Albenga, in the Italian province of Savona, on June 26, 1950. A literature graduate, he created many tv shows for RAI, Rai, the Italian national public broadcasting company, and Mediaset, the largest commercial broadcaster in the country. At 29 years old, he was one of the writers of the Saturday prime-time tv show Fantastico (Raiuno, 1979, 1981 and 1982). Since then, he started an artistic collaboration with Beppe Grillo that continued with the tv shows Te la do io l’America (1981) and Te lo do io il Brasile (1984). In 1983 he started working for Mediaset and created Drive In: a comical-satirical variety show on air till 1988. ''Cronica Cârcotaşilor'' (,"The Naggers' Show" or "The Naggers' Chronicles") is a weekly satire show on Prima TV hosted by Șerban Huidu, Codruț Kegheș, Cristian Hrubaru and Ioana Petric. Loosely based on the Italian entertainment program ''Striscia la notizia'', ''Cronica Cârcotaşilor'' ridicules various celebrities from the current Romanian political, media and showbiz scene by exposing their stupidity, hypocrisy or poor grammar skills, as seen on TV.
