Street Dreams (song)
"Street Dreams" is a 1996 single by American rapper Nas. The song was ''It Was Written's'' second single, following "If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)". "Street Dreams" contains an interpolation from the Eurythmics song "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" and a sample from Linda Clifford's "Never Gonna Stop". A remix, including an appearance by R. Kelly, was released shortly after the original. It featured samples from the Isley Brothers' " Choosey Lover" along with some elements from Marvin Gaye's "Mercy Mercy Me." The remix version was performed live on an episode of the Nickelodeon series ''All That'' in February 1997. The song's big-budget video, directed by Hype Williams, was an allusion to the Martin Scorsese film ''Casino''. It was filmed in Las Vegas around the time Tupac Shakur was murdered and featured a cameo appearance by Frank Vincent. Kenya Moore of The Real Housewives of Atlanta is also featured in the video. The song was Nas's first to enter the top 50 on the ' ...

It Was Written
''It Was Written'' is the second studio album by American rapper Nas, released on July 2, 1996, by Columbia Records. After the modest commercial success of his debut album ''Illmatic'' (1994), Nas pursued a more polished, mainstream sound for ''It Was Written''. Produced largely by Trackmasters, it departed from the debut's raw, underground aesthetic and embraced mafioso and gangsta themes. The recording also marked the first appearance of Nas's short-lived supergroup The Firm, featuring the rappers Foxy Brown, AZ, and Cormega. The album was a commercial success, selling 270,000 copies in its first week and debuting at number one on the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart, while receiving mostly positive reviews. It also heralded Nas's mainstream popularity as well as that of mafioso rap, joining similarly successful albums like Raekwon's ''Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…'' (1995) and Jay-Z's ''Reasonable Doubt'' (1996). However, Nas's more commercial sound fostered accusations of selling o ...

"Choosey Lover" is a 1983 soul song by The Isley Brothers (Originally titled "Juicy Lover"). Released on their T-Neck imprint, the song was their second consecutive top ten R&B hit after their seminal " Between the Sheets" hit No. 3 on that chart. It was the second of two chart-topping singles the Isleys released off their aptly titled '' Between the Sheets'' album. "Choosey Lover" was also the last charting single to feature the ''3 + 3'' lineup of the band. A year later, younger brothers Ernie Isley (who played the memorable guitar solos on the song and co-wrote the lyrics), Marvin Isley and their brother-in-law Chris Jasper left to form Isley-Jasper-Isley while older brothers Ronald Isley, Rudolph Isley and O'Kelly Isley continued on under the "Isley Brothers" name. The song has similarities to the Earth, Wind & Fire song "Devotion". The song was covered by R&B singer Aaliyah as "Choosey Lover (Old School/New School)" on her 1996 album '' One in a Million'', with the "Old Scho ...

Cameo Appearance
A cameo role, also called a cameo appearance and often shortened to just cameo (), is a brief appearance of a well-known person in a work of the performing arts. These roles are generally small, many of them non-speaking ones, and are commonly either appearances in a work in which they hold some special significance (such as actors from an original movie appearing in its remake) or renowned people making uncredited appearances. Short appearances by celebrities, film directors, politicians, athletes or musicians are common. A crew member of the movie or show playing a minor role can be referred to as a cameo role as well, such as Alfred Hitchcock's frequent cameos. Concept Originally, in the 1920s, a "cameo role" meant "a small character part that stands out from the other minor parts". The ''Oxford English Dictionary'' connects this with the meaning "a short literary sketch or portrait", which is based on the literal meaning of " cameo", a miniature carving on a gemstone. Mor ...
