Stream Unconference
Stream is a series of digital unconferences hosted by WPP Group, WPP. It is run by volunteers and sponsored by some of WPP's agency clients. Stream Europe takes place in Greece in October each year and hosts over three hundred people in the creative, media and technology industries. Attendees discuss and debate ideas and opportunities in the areas of culture, innovation and the internet. Stream 07, 08, 09 and '10 have all been hosted by Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, and Yossi Vardi, internet investor, and founder of Kinnernet. Stream Asia launched in 2011, and Stream Local events now take place in cities around the world (including London, Moscow, São Paulo, Paris and Berlin) where digital leaders can get together to discuss and debate the future. Unconference
An unconference is a participant-driven meeting. The term "unconference" has been applied, or self-applied, to a wide range of gatherings that try to avoid hierarchical aspects of a conventional conference, such as sponsored presentations and top-down organization. History According to Tim O'Reilly, the first unconference (reducing the usual emphasis on formal speeches and emphasizing informal connections instead) was organized by Alexander von Humboldt in 1828. The term "unconference" first appeared in an announcement for the annual XML developers conference in 1998. Unconferences often use variations on Open Space Technology, the format/method developed by Harrison Owen in 1985. Owen's 1993 book ''Open Space Technology: a User's Guide'' discussed many of the techniques now associated with unconferences, although his book does not use that term. Sir Martin Sorrell
Sir Martin Stuart Sorrell (born 14 February 1945) is a British businessman and the founder of WPP plc, the world's largest advertising and PR group, both by revenue and the number of staff. Upon being ousted in April 2018, Sorrell was the longest-serving chief executive of a FTSE 100 company. He is consistently one of the UK's highest-paid corporate executives. Joseph "Yossi" Vardi ( he, יוסי ורדי, born September 2, 1942) is an Israeli entrepreneur and investor. He is one of Israel's first high-tech entrepreneurs. For over 47 years he has founded and helped to build over 85 high-tech companies in a variety of fields, among them software, energy, Internet, mobile, electro-optics and water technology. Kinnernet
Kinnernet is a series of invitation-only unconference events formed by entrepreneurs, technologists, startup founders, scientists, media professionals, and creatives. Format Described as "a wild out of the box, irreverent, bottom-up innovation, creativity and cultural unconference", the event gathers each year 100-200 innovators working in the media, art, technology or creative industries, with the mission to: "''meet, share our visions and invent desirable futures together''". The festival mixes in depth conversations, debates, workshops, but also creative and artistic moments. All participants are equal and contributors and set up the programme by posting the topics on their minds on large wiki-boards. Tim O'Reilly (born 6 June 1954) is the founder of O'Reilly Media (formerly O'Reilly & Associates). He popularised the terms open source and Web 2.0. Jeff Pulver is an American Internet entrepreneur and futurist known for his work as an innovator in the field of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). ''Wired UK'' is a bimonthly magazine that reports on the effects of science and technology.
