Strausberg () is a town in Brandenburg, Germany, located 30 km east of Berlin. With a population of about 27,000 it is the largest town in the district of Märkisch-Oderland. History Strausberg was founded ''circa'' 1240, and in 1333 its first town hall was built. Today, a historic defensive wall borders the old town. In the 19th century, industrialization took place and the town developed a local labour movement, including union structures and a local branch of both the Social Democratic and the Communist Party of Germany. In World War II Strausberg housed a switching centre for teleprinter links encrypted by the Lorenz cipher from Hitler and the High Command to various Army Group commanders;see Fish (cryptography) After 1945, the town became part of East Germany and the seat of its Ministry of National Defence. Straussee
The Straussee is a German lake located in Strausberg, Brandenburg. It is situated about north-east of the city of Berlin. The town of Strausberg occupies the eastern shore of the lake, whilst the forest of the Strausberger Forest is on the western shore. Overview The lake is approximately long and wide, with an average depth of and a maximum depth of . It is crossed in its middle by the Straussee Ferry, an unusual electrically propelled passenger cable ferry. The lake is relatively rich in fish, and is popular with both Recreational fishing, anglers and commercial fisherman, fishermen. Kostrzyn nad Odrą (literally Kostrzyn upon Oder) (; german: Küstrin ) is a town in Gorzów County, Lubusz Voivodeship in western Poland, close to the border with Germany. Geography The town is situated within the historic Lubusz Land (''Ziemia Lubuska'') region at the confluence of the Oder and Warta rivers, on the western rim of the extended Warta mires. The town centre is located about south of Szczecin. Until the end of World War II and the implementation of the Oder–Neisse line in 1945, the municipal area also comprised the Küstrin-Kietz suburb on the west bank of the Oder river, which today is part of the German Küstriner Vorland municipality. Rüdersdorf is a municipality in the district Märkisch-Oderland, in Brandenburg, Germany, near Berlin. Rehfelde
Rehfelde is a municipality in the district Märkisch-Oderland, in Brandenburg, Germany. History With the foundation of a plywood mill in 1906, the first manufacturing company came to Rehfelde. On September 3, 1907 the night the express train from Insterburg to Berlin derailed at a speed of about 85 km/h near Rehfelde station. On July 12, 1908 set up twelve citizens a volunteer fire department. In the early 20th century, the population rose sharply. This was due to rising rents in Berlin, which led to an increased influx. During World War I 24 community residents lost their lives. In 1922, the local branch of the Communist Party of Germany, five years later the Social Democratic Party were founded. In the period of National Socialism, some citizens of the municipality resisted the Nazis, including the communist Wilhelm Betke and the pastor Otto Perel.
