Straumshamn is a village in Volda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The village is located at the southern end of the Kilsfjorden branch of the Voldsfjorden. The Bjørkedalen valley runs south from Straumshamn cutting between the Sunnmørsalpene mountains. The village of lies about to the northwest and the village of Fyrde lies about to the east. Volda Municipality
Volda is a municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is part of the Sunnmøre region. The administrative centre is the village of Volda. Other villages in the municipality include Dravlaus, Fyrde, Straumshamn, Leira, Bjørke, and Grodås. The municipality is located about south of the town of Ålesund. The municipality is the 132nd largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Volda is the 106th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 10,809. Kilsfjord Church
Kilsfjord Church ( no, Kilsfjord kyrkje) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the municipality of Volda in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. It is located in the village of Straumshamn, at the southern end of the Kilsfjorden. It is the church for the Kilsfjord parish which is part of the Søre Sunnmøre prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Møre. The concrete church was built in a rectangular "modern" design in 1974 using plans drawn up by the architect Alf Apalseth. The church seats about 200 people. History The church in Straumshamn was established in 1974 when the church was built. The concrete church was designed by Alf Apelseth. The church has a rectangular design meaning that the nave and chancel areas are both in the same room. The new European route E39 highway runs past the village of Fyrde. Voldsfjorden
Voldsfjorden or Voldafjorden is a fjord in Volda Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The long fjord begins at the confluence of the Austefjorden and the Kilsfjorden. The Voldsfjorden reaches a maximum depth of below sea level, making it the deepest fjord in all of Sunnmøre. The fjord cuts into the mainland of Norway and it is surrounded by the Sunnmørsalpene mountains. The Dalsfjorden branches off the Voldsfjorden just south of the village of Lauvstad. The main urban area along the fjord is the village of Volda, located on the east side of the fjord. The European route E39 highway runs along the shore of part of the fjord.
