Strathtay Prince Albert
Ch. Strathtay Prince Albert (3 July 1910 – unknown), a Bulldog, was the winner of the title of Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1913. He placed third at the show in 1914 and continued to appear at the competition for several years afterwards, winning Best of Breed on several more occasions. Early life Prince Albert was a white Bulldog, with brindle patches around the side of his head. He was originally owned by an officer in the British Army, who sold the dog on when he was transferred to India. It was sired by Chineham Joker, to dam Moston Violet, in Cheshire, England, and was purchased by Alexander H. Stewart of Chicago. Show history He was shown in a single show in his native England, at Chatham Hill where he was defeated by a dog named Centaur. Ch. Matford Vic (1912–??), a Wire Fox Terrier, was best known for being one of only five dogs to have won the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show on more than one occasion. She was originally purchased for the sum of £2 before changing hands twice prior to winning Best in Show at Westminster for the first time in 1915. Early life Vic was purchased from an English barnyard for the sum of £2. Upon bringing the dog home, her first owner tried to give it to each of his two sons, who told him that they did not want that kind of dog. Vic was brought along to a dog show where her owner was showing his Cocker Spaniels. A terrier fancier happened to catch sight of the dog and said to him "That is a fine dog that you have there. Why don't you exhibit it here?" He entered the dog in the classes, and Vic would end up winning her classes. Cocker Spaniel
Cocker Spaniels are dogs belonging to two breeds of the spaniel dog type: the American Cocker Spaniel and the English Cocker Spaniel of which are commonly called simply Cocker Spaniel in their countries of origin. The Chow Chow is a spitz-type of dog breed originally from northern China. The Chow Chow is a sturdily built dog, square in profile, with a broad skull and small, triangular, erect ears with rounded tips. Manchester Terrier
The Manchester Terrier is a breed of dog of the smooth-haired terrier type. It was first bred in the 19th century to control vermin, notably rats, at which it excelled. History In 1650, Robert Brooke sailed from England to Maryland with his pack of hunting dogs, which were the root of several strains of American hounds.
