Strategem (album)
''Strategem'' was the fourth studio album by Colorado rock band Big Head Todd and the Monsters, released in 1994. It was the band's second Giant Records release, following their platinum ''Sister Sweetly'' released the year before. While the album failed to match the sales and popularity of the band's previous effort, several individual tracks were positively received by reviewers, including "Kensington Line" and "Neckbreaker". Several verses on the album were inspired by Buddhist koans. The band recorded the album in an empty theater in Boulder, Colorado and attempted to return to a more indie music sound in the wake of their more commercial-sounding effort in "Sister Sweetly". Howie Weinberg is an American audio mastering engineer with over 2,257 mastering credits, three TEC Awards, 21 Grammy Awards, two Juno Awards, and one Mercury Prize. Career Weinberg mastered Herbie Hancock's 1983 album ''Future Shock''. Other mastering works include the Beastie Boys' ''Licensed to Ill'' and Nirvana's ''Nevermind''. Weinberg began working in the mail room at Masterdisk in 1979, delivering recording tapes in New York City. Mastering engineer Bob Ludwig acted as his mentor. Andy Wallace (born 1947 in New Jersey) is an American music studio producer, audio and mixing engineer with a long track record of productions. Over the years, he focused exclusively on mixing. Wallace is known for his "sonically influential presence on the current music scene", and has "helped to make some of the most brutal, aggressive music released and also some of the most beautiful". Career In 1974, Wallace began his career as a chief engineer in his own studio in Los Angeles. Hazel Miller
Hazel Miller is an American blues, pop and gospel singer. Originally from Kentucky, she has performed in the Denver, Colorado area since 1984. Early life Miller was born in Louisville, Kentucky as one of seven children. She began singing professionally at the age of 15 and featured prominently in the Louisville music scene. She sang backup for Al Green, and opened for Mel Tormé and Lou Rawls. Her band was the first African American band to play regularly at the Louisville Hyatt Hotel. Big Head Todd and The Monsters are a rock band formed by Todd Mohr, Brian Nevin, and Rob Squires in 1986 in Colorado. The band has released a number of albums since 1989 with their 1993 album ''Sister Sweetly'' going platinum in the United States. The band has developed a sizable live following especially in the Mountain States of the United States.
