Stranda Church (Leksvik)
Stranda Church ( no, Stranda kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Indre Fosen municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vanvikan, on the shore of the Trondheimsfjorden. It is the church for the Stranda parish which is part of the Fosen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1897 using plans drawn up by the architect Knut Guttormsen. The church, which seats about 300 people, was consecrated on 4 May 1897. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1589, but the old stave church was not new that year. Originally, the church was located at Hindrum, near the present-day village of Seter, about northeast of the present site of the church. The church was likely built during the 1200s. This list of churches in Nidaros is a list of the Church of Norway churches in the Diocese of Nidaros which covers all of Trøndelag county in Norway. The list is divided into several sections, one for each deanery in the diocese. Administratively within each deanery, the churches are divided by municipalities which have their own church council and then into parishes which have their own councils . Each parish may have one or more congregations in it. The municipality of Trondheim includes several deaneries within the municipality due to its large population. Historically, the diocese has had many deaneries, but the number of deaneries has been reduced in recent years. Haltdalen Stave Church
Haltdalen Stave Church ( no, Haltdalen stavkyrkje) is a stave church that was originally built in the 1170s in the village of Haltdalen in what is now the municipality of Holtålen in Trøndelag county, Norway. The church is now on display at the Sverresborg Trøndelag Folkemuseum in the city of Trondheim. This is a single-nave stave church of the east Scandinavian-style, and it is the only one that is preserved. Original church The church originated in Haltdalen, where it served as the parish church. It was probably built in the 1170s. The church was moved to Trondheim during the 1880s. The church was relocated to the Sverresborg Trøndelag Folkemuseum in 1937. The church has been disassembled several times, which has led to repeated repairs. Significant portions of the existing building are original parts that have been preserved for over 800 years. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Long Church
Church building in Norway began when Christianity was established there around the year 1000. The first buildings may have been post churches erected in the 10th or 11th century, but the evidence is inconclusive. For instance under Urnes Stave Church and Lom Stave Church there are traces of older post churches. Post churches were later replaced by the more durable stave churches. About 1,300 churches were built during the 12th and 13th centuries in what was Norway's first building boom. Timber-framed
Timber framing (german: Holzfachwerk) and "post-and-beam" construction are traditional methods of building with heavy timbers, creating structures using squared-off and carefully fitted and joined timbers with joints secured by large wooden pegs. Ole Jonsen Hindrum was a Norwegian builder and architect. He was a noted church builder in Trøndelag county, particularly specializing in the rare and unique Y-shaped floor plan. Ole Jonsen Hindrum was born around the year 1625 in Hindrem in Leksvik municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. He was active as a church builder during the second half of the 17th century and thus built or participated in the construction of a number of church buildings in Trøndelag. He was also involved in repairs to the spire of the Nidaros Cathedral in 1686, 1687, and 1690.
