Pentatominae
Pentatominae is a subfamily of Pentatomidae, a family of shield bugs. This subfamily is the largest one within the Pentatomidae, having 4937 species classified in 938 genera. Species in this subfamily are phytophages and several of them are considered agricultural pests. Some invasive pentatomines such as ''Halyomorpha halys'' and ''Bagrada hilaris'' have been considered household pests. Higher systematics of the group have been revised by Rider et al. Tribes and genera Tribes within this subfamily include: * Aelini Douglas & Scott, 1865 # ''Aelia (bug), Aelia'' Fabricius, 1803 # ''Aeliopsis'' Bergevin, 1931 # ''Neottiglossa'' Kirby, 1837 * Aeptini Stål, 1871 # ''Aeliosoma'' Baehr, 1985 # ''Aeptus'' Dallas, 1851 # ''Caridillus'' Bergroth, 1909 # ''Eribotes (bug)'' Stål, 1867 # ''Hillieria'' Distant, 1910 # ''Mariomella'' Faúndez & Rider, 2019 # ''Menestheus (bug)'' Stål, 1867 # ''Paramenestheus'' Breddin, 1900 # ''Pseudaelia'' Distant, 1910 * Aeschrocorini Distant, 1902 # ... Stenozygum
''Stenozygum'' is a genus of stink bugs in the family Pentatomidae. It is widely distributed in Australian-Melanesian, Oriental, Palearctic and Ethiopian regions. Description Species in the genus ''Stenozygum'' are associated with plants like ''Capparis'', ''Medicago sativa'', and ''Brassica campestris''. The genus is differentiated based on the male genitalia. There are about 40 species across the tropical Palaearctic, Ethiopian, Oriental and Australian-Melanesian Regions. Two subgenera ''Stenozygum'' and ''Setozygum'' just are separated based on the whether the jugum is longer than the clypeus (the latter) and the presence of setae on the inner lobe of the pygophore. Tribe (biology)
In biology, a tribe is a taxonomic rank above genus, but below family and subfamily. It is sometimes subdivided into subtribes. By convention, all taxa ranked above species are capitalized, including both tribe and subtribe. In zoology, the standard ending for the name of a zoological tribe is "-ini". Examples include the tribes Caprini (goat-antelopes), Hominini (hominins), Bombini (bumblebees), and Thunnini (tunas). The tribe Hominini is divided into subtribes by some scientists; subtribe Hominina then comprises "humans". The standard ending for the name of a zoological subtribe is "-ina". In botany, the standard ending for the name of a botanical tribe is "-eae". Examples include the tribes Acalypheae and Hyacintheae. The tribe Hyacintheae is divided into subtribes, including the subtribe Massoniinae. The standard ending for the name of a botanical subtribe is "-inae". In bacteriology, the form of tribe names is as in botany, e.g., Pseudomonadeae, based on the ge ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Madates (bug)
Madates () or Madetas () was a general of Darius III and was married to a niece of Sisygambis (the mother of Darius). He was leading the Uxii. He was supposedly ethnically Persian, but it is not unlikely he was Uxian. The idea that being a Persian ruling a non-Persian tribe "seems strange but has rarely received much attention from scholars." Diodorus Siculus and Quintus Curtius Rufus mention him. Madates tried to fight Alexander the Great Alexander III of Macedon (; 20/21 July 356 BC – 10/11 June 323 BC), most commonly known as Alexander the Great, was a king of the Ancient Greece, ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia (ancient kingdom), Macedon. He succeeded his father Philip ..., but the Uxians were at first reluctant. He defended a strong mountain fortress of the Uxii against Alexander but he defeated. After the entreaties of Sisygambis, he was pardoned by Alexander. References 4th-century BC Iranian people Uxii Opponents of Alexander the Great {{Iran-b ...
