Stotfold Football Club is a football club based at Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England. They play in the . The club is affiliated to the Bedfordshire County Football Association. History The first recorded football in Stotfold occurred in 1904 although it is certain the game was played in the town for a number of years before that. In the early 1900s, Stotfold sides played in the Biggleswade and District League. This was followed by a spell of nearly 30 years in North Herts football. The first record of a trophy being won was 1911 when Potton were beaten 1–0 in the Biggleswade and District Championship. Stotfold FC was officially founded, with proper financing, stewardship and record-keeping, in 1946. The club played for many years at the Hitchin Road Recreation Ground before moving into the newly-developed Roker Park ground in 1965. Stotfold
Stotfold is a small town and civil parish in Hertfordshire, England. Stotfold is thought to have gained its name from the northern drovers breaking their journey south at this point on the A1 Great North Road and penning their horses (stots) in enclosures (folds) before continuing their journeys southwards. The River Ivel runs through the town. Stotfold covers and the population at the 2001 census was 6,190. Stotfold is close to the county border with Hertfordshire, and has a Stevenage postcode. In 2010 there was a campaign to have the town absorbed into North Hertfordshire District Council. Josh Coley
Joshua Maxwell Coley (born 24 July 1998) is an English footballer who plays as a winger for club Sutton United. Career Coley was born in Stevenage but grew up in York. He was in the youth team at York City before returning south. Coley began his senior career in the Spartan South Midlands Football League with Arlesey Town Reserves, before moving on to Letchworth Garden City Eagles in the Herts Senior County League. In 2016 he joined Southern Football League side Hitchin Town. Coley only made a handful of appearances for the ''Canaries'', and spent most of his time out on loan with Histon, Arlesey Town, Langford and Baldock Town, where he scored 21 goals in all competitions in the 2017–18 season, combining non-league football with working as a bricklayer. FA Vase
The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The 2022 winners were Newport Pagnell Town, who beat Littlehampton Town 3–0 at Wembley Stadium. History Until 1974, football players were either professionals or amateurs. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). Since 2015, it has been known as The Emirates FA Cup after its headline sponsor. A concurrent women's tournament is also held, the Women's FA Cup. The competition is open to all eligible clubs down to Level 9 of the English football league system with Level 10 clubs acting as stand-ins in the event of non-entries from above. The United Counties League (also known after its sponsor as the ''Uhlsport United Counties League'') is an English football league covering Northamptonshire, Rutland and Bedfordshire and most of Leicestershire as well as parts of Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and the West Midlands. It has a total of five divisions, three for first teams and two for reserve teams, but the reserves' divisions were merged into a single division for the 2013–14 season and remains so at present. Liam Brendan George (born 2 February 1979) is a footballer who plays for Barton Rovers on a part-time basis, having signed for them in 2010. Born in England, he represented the Republic of Ireland in the Under 18 European Youth Championship. Career Early career George was born in Luton, England. Philip Gray (born 2 October 1968) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer. A striker, Gray won 26 caps for his country and played for ten professional clubs, his transfer fees totalling £1,475,000. Northern Ireland won every game Phil scored in. Biography Born in Belfast, Gray began his career as an apprentice at Tottenham Hotspur, signing a professional contract in 1986. After nine appearances in four years, he was loaned out to Barnsley during the 1989–90 season and Fulham in the 1990–91 season.
