Stormland (film)
''Stormland'' ( is, Rokland) is a 2011 Icelandic comedy film directed by Marteinn Thorsson, based on Hallgrímur Helgason's 2005 novel, ''Rokland''. Plot ''Stormland'' tells the story of Böðvar "Böddi" Steingrímsson, an anti-establishment man who hates popular culture and idolizes certain characters from Icelandic sagas. He lives in the small town of Krókur with his overprotective mother, after having spent ten years studying philosophy in Germany. A series of mishaps befalls him as he struggles to adapt to his new life. He finds his mother dead in front of the television, gets fired from his teaching job, has a fight with a local business owner, is rejected by the woman he loves, and ends up killing his brother. Hallgrímur Helgason (born February 18, 1959, in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic painter, novelist, translator, and columnist. Biography Hallgrímur Helgason is an Icelandic writer and artist, born in Reykjavik, Iceland, on February 18, 1959. He started out as a painter but gradually became a writer as well. His best known books are 101 Reykjavik (1996), The Hitman's Guide to Housecleaning (2008) and The Thousand Degree Woman (2011). Two of his novels have been turned into films and four of them have been adapted for the stage. He has held over 30 solo exhibitions in Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and France, and his works can be found in the collections of several art museums. Þorsteinn Bachmann
Þorsteinn Bachmann (born 25 October 1965) is an Icelandic actor. He is known for his role as Móri in ''Life in a Fishbowl''. In 2015 he won an Edda Award for that same role. Early life Þorsteinn grew up in the Fossvogur area of Reykjavík, Iceland before moving to Breiðholt when he was 10 years old. He did not do well in school in the early years. Looking back, he remembers that he was barely able to read or write before changing schools from Fossvogur to the one in Breiðholt. Career Þorsteinn graduated from the Icelandic Drama School in 1991. Since graduation he has worked with theatre groups in Reykjavík and Akureyri and was president of the latter for a few years. He has held many acting courses, and has served as a teacher at both the Icelandic Drama School and the Icelandic Film School. In 2013 he worked with the National Theatre of Iceland.
