''Storageland'' is the first release by musician Mirah, released independently as a vinyl EP in 1997. The album received largely positive reviews, and listeners were "drawn to the unpolished sound...with its sometimes muffled vocals, raw guitars, and background-noise cracklings." Production The EP was released independently in 1997. All tracks are on one side of the 12", and the B-side is an etching by Nikki McClure. Mirah is the primary artist, while contributing musicians include Bryce Panic on drums, Molly Burgdorf on bass on tracks, Jessie Breznau on violin, and Pat Maley on organ. Reception The album received a positive review in Allmusic, and a score of 3/5. Mirah (born Mirah Yom Tov Zeitlyn) is an American musician and songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York. After getting her start in the music scene of Olympia, Washington in the late 1990s, she released a number of well-received solo albums on K Records, including ''You Think It's Like This but Really It's Like This'' (2000) and ''Advisory Committee'' (2002). Her 2009 album ''(a)spera'' peaked on the ''Billboard'' Top Heatseekers chart at #46, while her 2011 collaborative album ''Thao + Mirah'' peaked at #7. You Think It's Like This But Really It's Like This
''You Think It's Like This but Really It's Like This'' is Mirah's debut album, released in 2000 on K Records. In July 2020, Mirah released a 20th anniversary reissue of the album via Double Double Whammy. The double LP reissue includes a remastered version of the record as well as a tribute to the album that features covers by Mount Eerie, Half Waif, Palehound, Shamir, Sad13 (Sadie Dupuis), Allison Crutchfield (of Swearin') and more. Production The album followed Mirah's debut release, '' Storageland EP'' and was produced by Mirah and Phil Elvrum, with a number of contributing instrumentalists. Indie Rock
Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Nikki McClure
Nikki McClure is a papercut artist based in Olympia, Washington. She is the author and illustrator of a number of children's books and produces an annual calendar. Biography McClure grew up in Kirkland, Washington. She moved to Olympia in 1986 to attend The Evergreen State College where she studied natural history and received B.S. and B.A. degrees in 1991. She would take walks in the forest, making up songs and singing them loudly; sometimes performing them at house shows. She sang onstage during the August 1991 International Pop Underground Convention in Olympia, and one of her songs was included on the vinyl edition of the Convention's live album. McClure rented a studio near K Records and experimented with linocuts. Following her graduation, she took a job at the Washington Department of Ecology.
