''Stone Deaf Forever!'' is a 5-CD box set collection by the band Motörhead, released in 2003. Recording ''Stone Deaf Forever!'' is the first fully comprehensive box set collection covering the band's career from 1975 to 2002 and is the first box set to be issued with full band approval: the track listing was compiled in association with the band and its fan club. The accompanying 60-page booklet contains a new 12,000-word essay by rock journalist Mick Wall and previously unpublished photos and information. Also included is a full colour replica tour poster and a Motörhead button. The cover art features a newly commissioned painting by longtime Motörhead artist Joe Petagno. Nineteen tracks made their CD debut on this set, although a number have since been included on Motörhead reissues and most significantly the '' BBC Live & In-Session'' set. Motörhead
Motörhead () were an English rock band formed in London in 1975 by Lemmy (lead vocals, bass), Larry Wallis (guitar) and Lucas Fox (drums). Lemmy was also the primary songwriter and only constant member. The band are often considered a precursor to the new wave of British heavy metal, which re-energised heavy metal in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Though several guitarists and drummers have played in Motörhead, most of their best-selling albums and singles feature drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor and guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke. Motörhead released 23 studio albums, 10 live recordings, 12 compilation albums and five EPs over a career spanning 40 years. Eddie Clarke (musician)
Edward Allan Clarke (5 October 1950 – 10 January 2018), better known as "Fast" Eddie Clarke or simply "Fast", was a British guitarist who was a member of heavy metal bands Fastway and Motörhead. Of Motörhead's classic lineup, which consisted of Lemmy and Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor, he was the last surviving member at the time of his death. Career Early days Clarke began playing guitar and, by the time he was fifteen years old, had been through many local bands, one of which was called The Bitter End. Of his "Fast" moniker, Clarke has said "I didn't get the name Fast Eddie because of any sex thing, and it wasn't even because I could play fast. It was just that I could play one note in a solo really fast," referring to his skillful tremolo picking. "Bomber" is a song by the English heavy metal band Motörhead, recorded and released in 1979 (see 1979 in music). It is the title track to their album ''Bomber'' and was released as a single peaking at 34 on the UK Singles Chart. The single was released in the UK by Bronze Records as a 7-inch vinyl single with the first 20,000 copies pressed in blue vinyl and thereafter in black. ''Bomber'' is the third studio album by British rock band Motörhead. It was released on 27 October 1979 via Bronze Records, their second with the label. Background By 1979, Motörhead had been together for four years and had amassed a loyal following in both punk and heavy metal circles. After recording an album for United Artists that the label shelved, the band released its eponymous debut LP in 1977, but it was with 1979's ''Overkill'' that the band hit their stride. The title track landed in the UK Top 40 and, after appearing again on ''Top of the Pops'', the band returned to the studio that summer with legendary producer Jimmy Miller to record what would become ''Bomber''. ''Overkill'' is the second studio album by British rock band Motörhead, released in March 1979. It was the band's first album with Bronze Records. ''Kerrang!'' magazine listed the album at number 46 among the "100 Greatest Heavy Metal Albums of All Time". American thrash metal band Overkill was named after this album. "Overkill" is a song by English rock band Motörhead. It was released in 7" and 12" vinyl pressings in 1979. It is backed with A-side and B-side, B-side "Too Late Too Late" which appears on the CD re-issues of the ''Overkill (Motörhead album), Overkill'' album. Early copies came with an "Overkill" badge. Richard Berry, Jr. (April 11, 1935 – January 23, 1997) was an American singer, songwriter and musician, who performed with many Los Angeles doo-wop and close harmony groups in the 1950s, including The Flairs and The Robins. He is best known as the composer and original performer of the rock standard "Louie Louie". The song became a hit for The Kingsmen and others, and it is one of the most recorded songs of all time; however, Berry received little financial benefit for writing it until the 1980s, having signed away his rights to the song in 1959. John Mayall, OBE (born 29 November 1933) is an English blues singer, musician and songwriter, whose musical career spans over sixty years.
