Amanda Stoker
Amanda Jane Stoker ( Fell; born 30 October 1982) is an Australian politician who became a Senator for Queensland in 2018 until 2022. She is a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) and sits with the Liberal Party in federal parliament. She was appointed to the Senate after the retirement of George Brandis. Stoker held the ministerial portfolios of Assistant Minister to the Attorney-General, Assistant Minister for Industrial Relations and Assistant Minister for Women in the Morrison government. Stoker was unsuccessful in her re-election bid in the 2022 federal election and departed the Senate on 30 June 2022. Early life and education Stoker was born in the Sydney suburb of Liverpool to working-class parents, Mark and Cornelia Ingrid Fell. Her father was born in Australia and her mother in Sweden. Henry Hugh Gordon Stoker
Captain Henry Hugh Gordon Dacre Stoker, (2 February 1885 – 2 February 1966), also known as Hew Stoker and commonly credited in films as H. G. Stoker or Dacre Stoker, was an Irish Royal Navy officer who commanded the Royal Australian Navy's submarine during the First World War. Stoker was captured in 1915 and he spent the remaining three-and-a-half years as a prisoner of war of the Ottoman Empire. He retired from the navy in 1920 to pursue an acting career on the stage and film. As an amateur athlete, Stoker competed in the Wimbledon tennis championships throughout the 1920s. With the outbreak of the Second World War, he was recalled to service in the navy, where he helped with public relations. When the war finished, Stoker returned to his acting career. Robert Burdon Stoker
Robert Burdon Stoker (19 June 1859 – 4 September 1919) was a British shipping magnate and Conservative politician. Shipping career Stoker was born in north-east England and educated at Liverpool College.''Who Was Who'', Published by A&C Black Limited. He entered a Liverpool sailing ship firm, involved in the American and Canadian trades, and became its manager. Stoker opened an office in Newcastle-upon-Tyne for the start of the Furness Line's operations to North America and within two years the line was operating ten ships on the North Atlantic. Richard Stoker
Richard Stoker (8 November 1938 – 24 March 2021) was a British composer, writer, actor and artist. There was a strong musical tradition in Stoker's family, and he showed an early aptitude, intrigued by the piano keyboard as soon as he was tall enough to reach it. He started playing the piano at the age of six, started to compose at the age of seven, and went to an uncle for piano lessons. At 15 he went to Huddersfield Technical College, studying with Harold Truscott and Winifred Smith. After initial encouragement from Eric Fenby, Arthur Benjamin and Benjamin Britten, he entered the Royal Academy of Music in 1958 and studied under Lennox Berkeley. He won several prizes at the RAM, culminating in the Mendelssohn Scholarship in 1962, which took him to Paris to study with Nadia Boulanger. Michael Stoker
Sir Michael George Parke Stoker CBE FRS FRSE MD FRCP (4 July 1918 – 13 August 2013) was a British physician and medical researcher in virology. Scientific career Stoker studied medicine at Clare College, Cambridge and St Thomas' Hospital in London, gaining his MD in 1947, after serving in the Royal Army Medical Corps during World War II. On return to civilian life he became a Fellow of Clare College from 1948 and an assistant tutor and director of medical studies from 1949 to 1958. Between 1953 and 1956, he researched the structure of ''Coxiella burnetii'', the bacteria causing Q fever, with Paul Fiset. Stoker moved to Glasgow University in 1958. There he was the first professor of virology at the university (the first chair of virology to be established at a British university) from 1958 to 1968 and was appointed honorary director of the Medical Research Council Unit in 1959. Lewis Stoker
Lewis Stoker (31 March 1910 – 26 May 1979) was an English professional footballer who played as an attacking right half. Born in Wheatley Hill, County Durham, he spent most of his professional career at Birmingham, for whom he played 246 games in all competitions, including 230 in the First Division. He moved on to Nottingham Forest in 1938, made 11 Second Division appearances, and retired during the Second World War. He won three full caps for England between 1932 and 1934, and played once for the Football League representative team. After retiring from football Lewis lived in Sparkhill Birmingham. Austin Stoker
Austin Stoker (October 7, 1930 – October 7, 2022) was a Trinidadian-American actor known for his role as Lt. Ethan Bishop, the police officer in charge of the besieged Precinct 9, Division 13, in John Carpenter's Howard Hawks-inspired 1976 film, '' Assault on Precinct 13''. This was one of the few heroic starring roles for a black actor in an action film of the 1970s outside of the blaxploitation genre. Stoker was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on October 7, 1930. He started his career on stage, including the 1954 Broadway production of Truman Capote's '' House of Flowers'', where he met his future wife, Enid Mosier (acting name Vivian Bonnell).
