Stockton Mariners
The Stockton Mariners were a minor league baseball team located in Stockton, California. The Mariners played in the Class A-Advanced California League for a single season in 1978. History Professional baseball returned to Stockton following a five-year absence. Stockton was a charter member of the California League with the most recent franchise relocating to Visalia following the 1972 season. The new Stockton franchise was owned by Joe Gagliardi, who simultaneously was operating the San Jose Missions under a lease agreement. Stockton signed an affiliation with the Seattle Mariners and adopted their parent club's namesake. Stockton native, Mike Pereira, was named general manager. Bobby Floyd, who had led the Seattle's short-season affiliate in Bellingham to a league championship the previous year was tabbed as manager. The California League is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in California. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The San Jose Missions were a Minor League Baseball, minor league baseball team located in San Jose, California. The Missions played from 1977 to 1978 as members of the Triple-A (baseball), AAA Pacific Coast League. Mike Pereira (born April 13, 1950) is a former American football official and later Vice President of Officiating for the National Football League (NFL) and currently the Head of Officiating for the United States Football League. Since 2010, he has served as a rules analyst for Fox Sports, for which he has gained the nickname "Mikey Rule Books".. Bellingham Mariners
The Bellingham Mariners were a Minor League Baseball team in the Class A-Short Season Northwest League, based in Bellingham, Washington. The club served as the Seattle Mariners' short-season affiliate from 1977 to 1994. History Major League Baseball returned to Seattle in 1977 with the expansion Mariners of the American League. The Stockton Ports are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Billy Hebert Field
Billy Hebert Field is a stadium in Stockton, California, United States. It is used primarily for baseball and was the home field of the Stockton Ports until they moved to Banner Island Ballpark in 2005. The stadium continues to be used as a venue for high school baseball playoffs. It was also used as a practice facility for the Stockton Lightning minor Arena League football team. The ballpark has a capacity of 6,000 people and opened in 1953. Prior to 1953, the land upon which the field is built was used for baseball since the late 19th century.
