Stockholmsgade
Stockholmsgade (literally "Stockholm Street") is a mainly residential street in central Copenhagen, Denmark. It follows the northwestern margin of Østre Anlæg, linking Sølvtorvet in the southwest with Oslo Plads at Østerport station in the northeast. The Hirschsprung Collection, an art museum, is located on the street. The Hirschsprung Collection's building (No. 20) is the only building situated on the park side of the street (even numbers). It was completed to a Neoclassical design by Hermann Baagøe Storck to house the personal art collection of Heinrich Hirschsprung. History The street is located on the former glacis outside the city's Fortification Ring. Østre Anlæg was created when the landscape architect Ole Høeg Hansen converted a section of the old East Rampart into an English-style landscape park in the 1870s. Sølvgade
Sølvgade ( lit. "Silver Street") is a street in central Copenhagen, Denmark, extending north-west from Borgergade to The Lakes where Fredens Bro connects it to Fredensgade. The section from Kronprinsessegade to Øster Voldgade follows the walled north-eastern margin of Rosenborg Castle Garden and the next section, from Øster Voldgade to the intersection with Farimagsgade, named Sølvtorvet (English: "Silver Square") although it is little more than a busy street junction, separates Copenhagen Botanical Garden from Østre Anlæg. Østre Anlæg
Østre Anlæg is a public park in Copenhagen. Once it was a part of the old city fortifications. The park was designed by landscape architect H.A. Flindt who also designed Ørstedsparken and Copenhagen Botanical Garden on the old fortification. The park lies between The National Art Museum at the southern end, and Oslo Plads and Østerport Station at the northern end. There are three lakes in this park, they used to be part of the moat system. History Østre Anlæg is located on land where Copenhagen's former ring fortification ran until the second half of the 19th century. Oslo Plads
Oslo Plads ("Oslo Square") is a public square in the Østerbro area of Copenhagen, Denmark. The square received its name in 1962. Before then, the square was part of the street Østerbrogade. In 1962, the part of Østerbrogade that stretched from Kristianiagade to Lille Triangel ("Little Triangle") was renamed Dag Hammarskjölds Allé (named after the United Nations' recently deceased Secretary-General), while the inner part of Østerbrogade was named Oslo Plads. The name also extends to the neighborhood north of Østbanegade, where many of the streets are named after Norwegian cities. Where Oslo Plads now lies, there used to be the old '' Østerport'' city gate, which was demolished between 1857 and 1858 as the last of Copenhagen's old city gates in the Fortifications of Copenhagen. Hirschsprung Collection
The Hirschsprung Collection (Danish: Den Hirschsprungske Samling) is an art museum located on Stockholmsgade in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located in a parkland setting in Østre Anlæg, near the Danish National Gallery, and houses a large collection of Danish art from the 19th and early 20th century. The emphasis is on the Danish Golden Age, from 1800 to 1850, but also the Skagen Painters and other representatives of the Modern Breakthrough are well represented. The museum is built around the personal art collection of Heinrich Hirschsprung, a tobacco manufacturer and patron of the arts who founded his art collection in 1865. The UCPH School of Pharmaceutical Sciences is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen (UCPH). It is located at the university's North Campus on the border between Nørrebro and Østerbro. The school is organized in two departments. History The Pharmaceutical College ( da, Den Farmaceutiske Læreanstalt) was founded in 1892 by the chemist Christian D.A. Hansen. The first professor was appointed in 1936, the dr.pharm. degree was introduced in 1942 and the lic.pharm. degree was introduced in 1945. Metropolitanskolen ("The Metropolitan School") was a school in Copenhagen, Denmark founded in 1209 by the Bishop , and for centuries one of the most prestigious schools in the country. History The school was founded in 1209 next to the Church of Our Lady built at the same time by Peder Sunesen, Bishop of Roskilde, and was named "The School of Our Lady" (''Vor Frue Skole'') or the "Cathedral School" (''Domskolen''). In 1802 it was renamed The Latin Cathedral School of Copenhagen (''Kjøbenhavns Latinske Cathedralskole''), but this caused problems since there was already one Cathedral School in the bishopric, that in Roskilde. Søren Ulrik Thomsen (born 8 May 1956) is a Danish poet. His debut was ''City Slang'', 1981. Life Søren Ulrik Thomsen was born in 1956 in Kalundborg. He grew up in Store Heddinge, Stevns, south of Copenhagen, where he went to school together with another Danish poet, Jens Fink-Jensen from 1968 to 1972. During his childhood he often heard readings of literature and sang evening songs. This early exposure to the rhythm and poetry of language influenced his later writing. In school he became familiar with the songs of B.S.Ingemann, a poet who has had significant influence on Thomsen's poetry. He moved with his family to Copenhagen at sixteen and enrolled in secondary school at Rysensteen and, after being expelled, at Det Frie Gymnasium, where he completed his upper secondary education, making him eligible for university studies. The ''Olsen Gang'' ( da, Olsen-banden, no, Olsenbanden, german: Die Olsenbande) is a Danish comedy film series created by Danish director Erik Balling and special effects expert Henning Bahs about the eponymous fictional criminal gang. The gang's leader is the criminal genius and habitual offender Egon Olsen and his accomplices are Benny and Kjeld (Kjell in Norwegian). The gang members are harmless, extremely rarely target ordinary citizens, and never deliberately use violence. The first film came in 1968; during the next thirty years a total of fourteen films were made.
