Stjepan Babić
Stjepan Babić (29 November 1925 – 27 August 2021) was a Croatian linguist and academic. Biography Babić was born in the small town of Oriovac in Brod-Posavina County, even though his biological parents are from Hrvatsko Zagorje. He attended primary school in Oriovac, and gymnasium in Slavonski Brod, Osijek and finally in Zagreb. In 1948 he got employed in Industrogradnja, soon after the political winds threw him to Petrinjska prison. After Petrinjska he enrolled to Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb in 1949, graduating in 1955 Croatian, Russian and German. Afterwards he remained working as an assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy, defending his Ph.D. in 1962 and receiving full professorship in 1975. He was the vice-president of Matica hrvatska from 1989 to 1992, and representative in the ''Županijski Dom'' (Chamber of the Counties) from 1993 to 1997. He retired as professor in 1991. Ivo Pranjković
Ivo Pranjković (born 17 August 1947) is a Croatian linguist. Pranjković is a Bosnian Croat, born in Kotor Varoš in Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the classical secondary school in Visoko, he received a BA degree in Croatian from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb. In 1974 he became a member of the Department of Croatian at the same faculty. Today, he is a professor of standard Croatian. As a learned linguist and philologist with a wide spectrum of interests, Pranjković made important contributions to several linguistic areas. His syntactic studies ''Croatian Syntax'', ''Second Croatian Syntax'' and ''Croatian grammar'' (published in co-authorship with Josip Silić) are generally considered important works for the modern Croatian syntax. Milena Žic-Fuchs
Milena Žic Fuchs (Croatian pronunciation: ilena ʒit͡s fuks born 10 August 1954) is a Croatian linguist and full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She formerly served as the Croatian Minister of Science and Technology in the cabinet of Zlatko Mateša from February 1999 to January 2000. Žic Fuchs graduated from the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FFZG) in 1977, majoring in English language and literature and ethnology. In 1982 she received an MA in linguistics and in 1989 a PhD, also in linguistics. She worked at the faculty since the late 1970s in various lecturing roles and from 2002 holds position of Chair of Linguistics at the Department of English. Sanda Ham
Sanda Ham (20 August 1959) is a Croatian linguist and publicist. She is editor of the Croatian linguistic magazine ''Jezik''. Personal life She was born in 1959 in Osijek, where she attended elementary and grammar school as well as the Faculty of Pedagogy where she graduated in 1982. She received her postgraduate degree in linguistics ( Croatian studies) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb in 1988. Her dissertation was on passive sentences in standard Croatian. Six years later she received a doctor's degree with a dissertation about language of Croatian novelist Josip Kozarac. Milan Moguš (; 27 April 1927 – 19 November 2017) was a Croatian linguist and academician. Biography He was born in Senj, where he finished primary school and high school. In the academic year 1948/49 he attended in Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb (VIII. group: people's language and literature) and he graduated in 1953. In the same year he was elected as assistant to the academy's Institute for Language, and in 1956 he performed the same duties at the Faculty of Philosophy at University in Zagreb in the Department for Dialectology and History of Croatian.
