Sticks And Stones
"Sticks and Stones" is an English-language children's rhyme. The rhyme is used as a defense against name-calling and verbal bullying, intended to increase resiliency, avoid physical retaliation, and/or to remain calm and indifferent. The full rhyme is usually a variant of: Sticks and stones may break my bones But words shall never hurt me. The first three words of the rhyme are an example of an irreversible binomial. Earliest appearances Alexander William Kinglake in his ''Eothen'' (written 1830, published in London, John Ollivier, 1844) used "golden sticks and stones". An article by F.R. Horner in Liverpool's ''Northern Times'' on July 23, 1857, included the phrase (as quoted text): Sticks and stones (says the schoolboy’s rhyme) may break men’s bones, but bad names will not hurt me. An article in ''The Coleraine Chronicle and North of Ireland Advertiser'' on January 18, 1862 included the phrase (also as quoted text):Sticks and stones break one’s bones, but names will ne ...

Traces (Karine Polwart Album)
''Traces'' is the fifth studio album by Scottish folk musician Karine Polwart, released in 2012. It was her first solo album in four years, though she had appeared as part of the collaborations Darwin Song Project, The Burns Unit and The Fruit Tree Foundation. The album included a new recording of "We're All Leaving" (previously recorded as part of the Darwin Song Project) and nine new songs, including tracks inspired by the Occupy London protests ("King of Birds"), Donald Trump's controversial golf course development in Aberdeenshire ("Cover Your Eyes") and the 1982 murder of Susan Maxwell ("Half a Mile"). More whimsically, "Tinsel Show" is about Grangemouth Refinery. "Tears for Lot's Wife" is based on a poem by Anna Akhmatova. Although all of Polwart's albums except '' Fairest Floo'er'' were released with lyric booklets, ''Traces'' was the first to contain liner notes explaining the background to all of the songs. The album was Polwart's first official UK Top 75 entry, peakin ...

''Down in Albion'' was released on 14 November 2005 on Rough Trade Records, although it was leaked on to the Internet on 19 October 2005. Produced by Mick Jones, ''Down in Albion'' contains a rerecorded version of their second single "Killamangiro" as well as a reggae track, "Pentonville". The influence of The Clash has been noted on songs such as "À rebours" and "The 32nd of December". The first track, "La Belle et la Bête" ( French for "Beauty and the Beast"), features the vocals of Doherty's then-girlfriend Kate Moss, and "Pentonville" was written by Doherty and The General, a friend he met whilst an inmate in Pentonville Prison. The album was seen as a move away from The Libertines' style of music. The artwork for the album was created by Doherty. ...
