Stevie Shears
Stevie Shears (born 1954/1955) is an English musician known for playing in the rock bands Tiger Lily and Ultravox! (later Ultravox), as well as being part of the bands Faith Global and Cowboys International. Biography Tiger Lily and Ultravox! Working in a paint factory and playing in different bands in Dagenham, Essex, he made contact with John Foxx and formed Tiger Lily in 1973 (together with bassist Chris Cross). Later, Tiger Lily changed its name to Ultravox! (later known simply as Ultravox). Between February and March 1978, after releasing with this band the ''Ultravox!'' (early 1977) and ''Ha! Ha! Ha!'' (1977) albums Shears was replaced by Robin Simon. Post-Ultravox! bands After Ultravox!, Shears formed a band with his friend Ice, real name Roland Oxland, bassist of Gloria Mundi. Earth Report
''Earth Report'' is a 12" EP released by new wave band Faith Global on Survival Records in 1982. This was the first disc the band, comprised by multinstrumentalist Stevie Shears (formerly of Ultravox! and Cowboys International) and singer Jason Guy, released. Faith Global
Faith Global was a synthpop and new wave band composed of Stevie Shears (guitar, bass, synthesizer, piano), original Ultravox! guitarist and Jason Guy (vocals, acoustic guitar). Stevie Shears had been in Ultravox! and Cowboys International, when suddenly Faith Global was formed in the early 1980s. Shears met Guy after leaving Ultravox in 1978 and decided to form a band; Ice, bassist with Gloria Mundi, Shears and Guy formed New Men. The band didn't last long, so Shears went to Cowboys International and Guy formed another band, but continued to maintain contacts. Later Survival Records (label founded by the duo Drinking Electricity) offered them money to work in the studio. In Survival, recorded and released an EP called ''Earth Report'' in 1982 and the album ''The Same Mistakes'' in 1983. Shortly afterwards, it seems Faith Global split up. Dagenham
Dagenham () is a town in East London, England, within the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Dagenham is centred east of Charing Cross. It was historically a rural parish in the Becontree Hundred of Essex, stretching from Hainault Forest in the north to the River Thames in the south. Dagenham remained mostly undeveloped until 1921, when the London County Council began construction of the large Becontree housing estate. The population significantly increased as people moved to the new housing in the early 20th century, with the parish of Dagenham becoming Dagenham Urban District in 1926 and the Municipal Borough of Dagenham in 1938. ''The Impossible'' is the only solo album of English singer Ken Lockie, after dissolving his band, Cowboys International, in 1980. It was released by Virgin Records, in 1981, and was recorded with the help of two of the former Lockie bandmates in Cowboys International, guitarist Stevie Shears and drummer Paul Simon, and other known musicians, like John McGeoch of Siouxsie and the Banshees (guitar), John Doyle (drums), Preston Heyman of Tom Robinson Band (drums), Joe Dworniak of Shake Shake! and I-Level (bass), Jim Kerr of Simple Minds (backing vocals) and Nash the Slash. ''Revisited'' was a compilation by new wave band Cowboys International. It was released in 2003 by Pnuma Records, in USA. It compiles songs from '' The Original Sin'' album, released in 1979, and other singles of the band released in 1979 and 1980, the year when the band broke up and singer Ken Lockie went solo. The compilation is also noted for showing the number of members the band had during their brief existence. Retro (EP)
''Retro'' was the only EP (7") by Ultravox, then Ultravox!, released on 10 February 1978. It was the last recording released by the band as Ultravox!. Also this was the last disc featuring original guitarist Stevie Shears, who left the band after its release. The EP featured four live tracks recorded in 1977 or early 1978, while Ultravox! were promoting one of their first two albums, ''Ultravox!'' and ''Ha! Ha! Ha!'', both released in 1977. An Australian only 12" was also released with the added tracks Quirks and Modern Love. These were previously available as a free 7" single given away with the first 10000 copies of "Ha Ha Ha". In or around 1990 the Australian record company 'Festival Records' made a limited amount of cd singles of the 6 track Retro EP but shelved the release. It is not known if any were issued for sale.
