Stevie Salas (born November 17, 1964) is a Native American guitarist, author, television host, music director, record producer, film composer, and former advisor of contemporary music at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian. Career Salas was born on November 17, 1964, in Oceanside, California, United States. He is of Apache ancestry. In 1989, Stevie was credited in '' Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure'' as performing the guitar solo of the character Rufus (played by George Carlin) in the closing scene. Stevie's hands were also featured performing the solo, according to the film's end credits. In 1990, Salas released his first solo album ''Stevie Salas Colorcode'', opening for Joe Satriani and his 1989 album '' Flying in a Blue Dream''. Mass Mental (also stylized as Mass Mental?) is an American rock band. It was formed in 1995 by former Suicidal Tendencies and current Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo and former Dub War and current Skindred singer Clive "Benji" Webbe. History The band was formed when Webbe's band Dub War disbanded after a dispute with their record label, Earache Records, and Webbe had failed to persuade them to let him record a hip-hop solo album. Trujillo was working with Ozzy Osbourne at the time. He recruited Armand Sabal-Lecco as a second bassist and Brooks Wackerman on drums to perform on Mass Mental's only album, ''How to Write Love Songs'', which had begun work in 1995 with producer Mark Dodson and a selection of other musicians. Zakk Wylde
Zachary Phillip Wylde (born Jeffrey Phillip Wielandt; January 14, 1967) is an American musician. He is best known as the lead guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and as the founder, lead guitarist, lead singer, songwriter and producer of the heavy metal band Black Label Society. His signature bulls-eye design appears on many of his guitars and is widely recognized. He was also the lead guitarist and vocalist of Pride & Glory, who released one self-titled album in 1994 before disbanding. ''Stevie Salas Colorcode'' is the debut album by the Native American guitar player Stevie Salas, released in 1990. Colorcode was the name Salas gave to his band. Salas supported the album by opening for Joe Satriani on a North American tour. The album was a commercial disappointment in the United States, but sold well in international markets. The album's first single was "The Harder They Come". Production Recorded in New York, the album was coproduced by Bill Laswell. Colorcode included Winston Watson Jr. on drums and C.J. De Villier on bass. Salas wrote or cowrote all of the album's songs; Parthenon Huxley contributed to some of the lyrics.
