Stevie, ST Editor for VI Enthusiasts, is a discontinued Clone (computing), clone of Bill Joy's vi text editor. Stevie was written by Tim Thompson for the Atari ST in 1987. It later became the basis for Vim (text editor), Vim, which was released in 1991. Thompson posted his original C (programming language), C source code as free software to the comp.sys.atari.st newsgroup on 28 June 1987. Tony Andrews added features and ported it to Unix, OS/2 and Amiga, posting his version to the comp.sources.unix newsgroup as free software on 6 June 1988. John Steptoe (September 14, 1950 – August 28, 1989) was an author and illustrator for children’s books dealing with aspects of the African-American experience. He is best known for ''Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters'', which was acknowledged by literary critics as a breakthrough in African history and culture. Early life John Steptoe was born in Brooklyn, New York. He began drawing as a young child and received formal art training at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan, and had Norman Lewis as his instructor. After 10 years with no contact, he attempts to reconnect with Stevie Fielding, a troubled young boy to whom he had been an 'Advocate Big Brother'. James's re-entry into Stevie's life is brief.
