Steven Sloane
Steven Sloane (born 1958) is an Israeli-American conductor. Biography Born in Los Angeles, California, Sloane developed an interest in conducting at age 16. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in music. Separately, he also took conducting lessons with Eugene Ormandy, Franco Ferrara and Gary Bertini. Sloane lived and worked for much of the 1980s in Israel. From 1989 to 1994, Sloane was First ''Kapellmeister'' at the Frankfurt Opera. He was music director of the Bochum Symphony Orchestra (''Bochumer Symphoniker The Bochumer Symphoniker is a German orchestra based in Bochum. Frédéric Chaslin
Frédéric Chaslin (; born 1963, in Paris) is a French conductor, composer and pianist. He recently joined the prestigious Music publishing house Universal Edition in Vienna. The son of an architect, Chaslin studied at the Conservatoire de Paris, where he won first prizes in harmony, counterpoint, fugue, piano accompaniment, vocal direction, and orchestration. He later studied at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg, where his mentors included Paul von Schilawsky. In 1989, Chaslin became an assistant conductor to Daniel Barenboim at the Orchestre de Paris and at the Bayreuth Festival. In 1991, he held a similar post with Pierre Boulez at the Ensemble Intercontemporain from 1989 to 1991. Boulez gave him his first concerts at an international level in Roma (July 1991) and at the Festival Wien Modern (19 October 1991). Chaslin was music director of the Opera de Rouen from 1991 to 1994. Christian Vásquez (born 1984, Caracas, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan conductor and violinist. Vásquez began to study violin at age 9, after being accepted to the ''El Sistema'' program in Venezuela, and he played in the ''Sinfónica Infantil de San Sebastián de los Reyes''. In 2001, at age 17, he began conducting studies with José Antonio Abreu. In 2005, Vásquez became music director of the ''Sinfónica Juvenil de Aragua José Félix Ribas'' (José Felix Ribas Juvenile Symphony Orchestra of Aragua). Susanna Ulla Marjukka Mälkki (born 13 March 1969) is a Finnish conductor and cellist. Early life and education Susanna Ulla Marjukka Mälkki was born on 13 March 1969 in Helsinki. She began to learn the violin, piano, and cello in her youth, eventually focusing her studies on the cello. She continued her cello studies with Hannu Kiiski, and later studied conducting with Jorma Panula, Eri Klas, and Leif Segerstam at the Sibelius Academy. She also studied at London's Royal Academy of Music. She participated in a Sibelius Academy Conductor's Workshop at Carnegie Hall in 1998, under the supervision of Panula and Esa-Pekka Salonen. George Manahan
George Manahan (born 1952, Atlanta, Georgia, USA) is an American conductor. Biography Manahan's parents were church musicians. In high school, he was a drum major in his high school marching band, and also conducted this band. Another of his earliest musical engagements was as conductor of a pit orchestra at the Six Flags Over Georgia amusement park. He studied piano and conducting at the Manhattan School of Music, where his teachers included Anton Coppola and George Schick. He graduated from the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1973 and a Master of Music degree in 1976. He was named to the Manhattan School of Music faculty after his graduation. In parallel with this appointment, the Juilliard School awarded him a fellowship as Assistant Conductor with the American Opera Center.
