Steven Luevano
Steven "Steve" Luevano (born March 3, 1981) is an American former professional boxer who held the World Boxing Organization, WBO featherweight title. He was trained by the former International Boxing Federation, IBF List of super featherweight boxing champions, Super Featherweight Champion Robert Garcia (American boxer), Robert Garcia. He is remembered for his success inside the ring, with his only professional losses coming to Juan Manuel López (boxer), Juan Manuel Lopez and Martin Honorio. Amateur career Steven fought on the Mexican National amateur team. He is the 1997 National Jr. Olympic amateur champion at 119 pounds and had almost 300 amateur bouts before entering the pro ranks. Mario Santiago Figueroa (born July 13, 1978) is a Puerto Rican professional boxer. Santiago debuted as a professional in 2000, and is the current World Boxing Council Caribbean Featherweight Champion. Amateur career Santiago Figueroa started boxing when he was seven years old, in his hometown of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was trained by his late uncle Edwin and his father Mario Santiago, Sr., who were both boxers. Santiago Figueroa did not enter an amateur tournament until he was 15 years old. His first fight was for the Puerto Rico Southern Region Amateur Title which he won. Super bantamweight, also known as junior featherweight, is a weight class in professional boxing, contested from and up to . There were attempts by boxing promoters in the 1920s to establish this weight class, but few sanctioning organizations or state athletic commissions would recognize it. Jack Wolf won recognition as champion when he beat Joe Lynch at Madison Square Garden on September 21, 1922, but afterwards the weight division fell into disuse.
